I Have decided to start an experiment, being interested in maximizing time, REM sleep, and training my body to sleep less, so while everyone is asleep I can finally relax, and and be alone.I have already began this experiment.

objective: Train my body to only need 4 or less hours of sleep a day

Hypothesis: I could train myself, and adapt myself by changing my sleep cycle, and in a 2 week period (or longer) complete my objective, by increasing the amount of REM sleep I get.

The actual experiment: For the next two weeks, I'll slowly decrease sleep time beginning from 6 hours (current, I am an insomniac) and judge if I can decrease the time by my alertness, and how long I can stay up, I will constantly check the time to measure amount of REM sleep I get a night (my alarm is set up, and I really got no other way), and alertness by various test through the day.

anyone do anything similar to this? any notes or tips?

When I finish I'll update this topic.

i remember learning about an expiriment where they tried to make a 28 hour day for this group of people to see if they could change the sleep patterns. All that happened is the people went to sleep earlier each "day" and got moodier as the expiriment went on. Their "internal clock" kept a 24 hour a day pattern thanks to the way our brains evolved.

No need to train here; after years of gradually losing sleep at night to an overactive brain and diabetic sugar crashes, I already do it. Be advised, you need at minimum four hours of uninterrupted sleep to get any benefit from it--take it from someone who rarely pulls off three. (And I'm being a total hypocrite posting at 2am, but at this point I've just stopped caring.)

Where I live I barely get 4 hours of sleep. The people across the sleep are always having parties. I always get invited but I don't like the smeel of their house.

It's like a mixture of dog shit and apples. It's just so nasty.

Is this like the thing where you sleep like 20 minutes every 4 hours?
My friend tried that, and it DOESNT work.
You feel like total poo.
So if it IS like that, I suggest not doing it.
Also, he is an insomniac, so you guys are similar.
