What should I look for in a good laptop? All I plan on doing is typing and I need the internet, but I also need alot of memory. I dont really know anything about computers, so how much memory should I look for and what should I try to get for under $600?

Fuck budget, go for an iMac. SHITLOADS of memory on those things, and they run Safari (even with flash ads, a flash game, or both) flawlessly. Any other computer won't do that. Ever.

Also, I have a Macbook Pro 15" and it fucking kicks arse. I would be more detailed but that's pretty much exactly what it does.

For 600 then just look for something with 2-4gb of RAM, around a 2.4ghz dual core(make sure its intel), and integrated graphics.
Nothing too special for that cash.

Well, there are loads of different brands. Depending on what you want to do, in your case, typing, surfing, msn?, you might even be pleased with a netbook. Or go for a Medion Akoya, if they are sold in your area. Those are great, seriously.
You could also get a Macbook, but they are pretty expensive, and if you're used to working with Windows, it's a whole leap.

It might be just me, but I love Acer (well, they are cheap because they cut down costs on sturdy-ness), and I had nothing but trouble with Dell. God, their service is bad, ordering replacement parts sucks even harder,

Ive heard numerous stories about Dells replacement parts issues. I have experienced none of what you posted, Dell has been good to me. But, to each their own.
Also, your sig hurts my eyes.

Pick your poison.
Macs are virtually invincible to viruses, and they look really pretty, not to mention you can run Windows on it if you so wish. However, they're expensive as hell and don't have features like Blu-Ray (if you're into that)
Windows laptops are fairly cheap, and Windows 7 is coming out soon which is supposed to be amazing, not to mention you can get a lot more games on Windows than on Macs. However, you get viruses up the ass.
It's up to you. Just make sure you look up the reviews for what you want before you get it.
This is my laptop, and I like it a lot.

Hey, fuck both of you. You know damn well that's out of his price range. iMac's aren't even laptops!

For under $600 you won't really get a good one. Save money until you got about $800, the extra 200 dollars really make it worth while. By the way, don't listen to those guys telling you to get a Mac. You can run OS X on a laptop as well (if you want to).

Whatever you do, stay far, far away from anything that has "HP" on it.
You'll thank me later.
