You cannot get arrested for saying fuck you to someone. You should have remembered back to elementary school where you learned that the most basic amendment is freedom of speech, and kept going with more verbal abuse.

I worked in customer service for four years. The original post never happened. Unfortunately, we can't do shit, especially for a non-crime like profanity.

My friend went to court for say "Your full of bullshit" To a teacher.

Can you really get arrested for saying "fuck you" to someone? I would doubt it. It would have to be considered a verbal threat, and I doubt that someone like a customer service rep would be willing to try and establish evidence of a stated threat in court, so I wouldn't have even backed down. Hell, if I was already mad enough at a customer service rep in the first place to say "fuck you", I'd blow up at him again if he had the balls to call me back.

You apologised and he seems to have accepted it, so it's unlikely he'll take it further. Hopefully you've learnt from your lesson and you won't do that again in future.

Yeah, if he called in repeatedly it'd become harassment and they'd block his number at most. They would never call back and threaten non-enforceable legal action however.

A lot of Americans quickly forget the fact that rights come with responsibilities. The first amendment details the "right to free speech" but the responsibility of this is that you cannot use it to infringe on someone elses rights and wellbeing. As a result we have a lot of smart arse American teens whining about their "right to free speech" when someone speaks out against something they say and condemns them for it, or in some cases complain when their forum posts are deleted. All they have to say is shit and hate vented at decent people and should not be waving their first amendment around when they can't even use it properly.

In relevance to what you're saying, he can't do that because he has infringed on someone elses wellbeing by shouting "fuck you" in their ear and then hanging up. That is verbal assault and is against the law.
