Because on the internet, there are no consequences. If you can tell someone to go fuck themselves and that they can go die in a fiery pit, and there are no consequences, why not, right?

but that is back seat moding. you'll get some of that tough love right back at you with ban. police officers are only at crime scenes wht they're contacted. only a few do go around patrolling area's but they are usually just there to help citizens like lost tourists or to aid an old man to walk down the road

No, it's not backseat modding, it's just one of the jobs regulars have. The regulars' job is to help in some way, either tough or helping, and the mods' job is to clean up the shit trail you leave. Two totally different things. Both forcing you to learn from those mistakes of yours.

Its just the wonder of the internet, you can be anyone you want. The people who are assholes on Newgrounds are probably for the most part incredibly nice people in real life. They don't have the chance to rip on people in real life so they take it out on the internet. Pretty pathetic if you ask me but hey i'm a nice guy on the internet and in person so i'm just gonna ignore them...

I don't do it so much but I understand why people would. It's because its the internet, they can be an arsehole for all they like and nothing's going to happen to them in real life. Most of the time I'd say its a release for them to take out their anger and vent. There's just no repercussions.

Well... I don't know why people are complete dicks. If your insult is actually humorous than I get a good chuckle out of it and move on. Many people on Newgrounds are very helpful as well.

I remember when I first went onto the BBS on an alternative account of mine....I read the rules correctly, I thought everyone would be mature and pretty cool....but nah.

I also had bad experiences with some of the moderators, they all had different interpretations of the rules, it's like there was a discussion going on, I referred to someone as a "faggot" then I was banned for like 1 or 2 days, I was pretty annoyed, but you have to get used to it, the BBS still has some good things.

That's one thing I wanted to ask. They just act so rude to me!

Anonymity. They can't do anything back really plus you don't really see the person you're being rude to so it won't bother you if you upset them.

The reason a lot of people are general assholes on the internet is either because the internet is seemingly anonymous and there are rarely internet repercussions, and because they are getting out there inner anger in a safe for everyone environment as opposed to physically hurting someone.
