People are idiots.
You got that right. People never stop and think, "If he's got something that's worth so much money, why is he selling it off so cheap?"
It reminds me of this scam I saw on TV once. A guy set up a little stall or whatever at a car boot sale, and he claimed that he was selling off £10 notes that had been soaked in that paint that they get on them when someone tries breaking open a cash machine. He was telling people that if they bought this 'solvent' from him and also as many £10 notes as they wanted at £1 each, they could use the solvent to clean the notes and they'd be as good as new.
He conned people by getting a real £10 note out which was soaked in dye or whatever, selling it to the potential customer, and then showing them how easy it was to clean. Then because the customer had bought the real note, the scammer was like "You paid for it, now you can keep it." So people came over and started buying £100 and £200 worth of these notes, but of course the 'notes' that he gave to the customers were completely fake.
How can people be so stupid? They never stopped and thought, "Hold on. Why would the guy give me £10 in exchange for £1 when he could just keep the £10 notes himself?" Morons.
