So yeah yeah yeah TWITTER. Wtf is that anyway? Well i might as well check it out because everyone is talking about it. Hmm... ok cool ill make my page. Doesnt have to much of a customizable interface but what the hell. Hey I got 4 followers! Well, time to update my status. "I'm updating my status on Twitter!" Ermm.. ok. Now what. OH I KNOW! ILL UPDATE MY STATUS AGAIN! "I'm doing laundry" Ok... now im sick of this site.

And so Billy left the site forever, leaving the large page he made which takes up bandwidth on Twitter, costing them money. You see, 80% of the people that go to Twitter leave after the first month. This means millions of pages are just sitting there doing NOTHING. Websites like that make money off of people STAYING on the website, attracting more people and all in all clicking the adds on their sites. if there are not any people to click adds, there wont be any money to pay for bandwidth and everything else.

So pretty soon Twitter will end up going bankrupt because the site is so boring, almost everyone leaves.

I probably will stick around for a few years, but I don't see the appeal of signing up for a website just to get one of the features I get from my Face Book account already.

Give a dollar if you think Barack Obama will be a good president.
So far, 2 people think Barack Obama will be a good president.

You have no idea how badly some people are addicted to twitter, are you?

Twitter won't go bankrupt, at least not in the foreseeable future. If anything, they're expanding. Even businesses are getting accounts to keep clients up to date. Popularity is skyrocketing. Even if 80% leave after a brief stint, you still have 20% left, and they're STAYING FOR GOOD. How many of the 1,750,000 or so NG profiles out there do you think are actual active individuals? Subtract the alts and inactive accounts, and we're much smaller.

As for ad revenue, Twitter has it made. Ad companies will go for top dollar to get ad space on twitter. Who says that Twitter's ad revenues are based on per click revenue? Most likely, it's a certain mount of money for a certain sized ad for a certain amount of time. It doesn't matter how many people click it.

Thats like, exactly what I did when I was on Twitter. I was on for a few minutes, and I got sick of it already. You can do all that in Facebook basically.

Twitter is meant for busineses and web sites like NWegrounds, Walmart, an arcade, a pop singer, e.t.c. They check to see what fans they have. Because only about 5% of the population gets fans and has a businees, barely anyone gives a crap if someone is following them or not.

You don't have any numbers to prove or disprove that statement, so arguing it either way won't realy settle much.

Besides, Twitter's traffic isn't limited to people updating their own status, people also check other people's activity. This increases page views and traffic.

Honestly, if Newgrounds was able to survive the dot com burst, Twitter can easily make it right now. They have a decent business model, they're hip and fashionable, and they have very a devoted fan base. You're just pulling stuff out of your ass so you'd be able to call it if they actually went under (which they won't).

Well of course there are those who love twitter, but it is a minority. about 20%

Subtract the alts and inactive accounts, and we're much smaller.

the 20% of users who stay on NG forever are just a bonus for this site. It doesnt matter if people stay because people come to play a game, click adds, and every single time someone comes to this sit,e they come here to play games! And so they are going to play a game and they are going to come across an ad. Newgrounds gets paid for all these hits from the sponsors and people who put their ads on this site.

Twitter, however, doesnt have ANYTHING excpe a simple userpage with a line telling people what you are doing. Unless they add to the site, they are going to be in deep trouble.

Most likely, it's a certain mount of money for a certain sized ad for a certain amount of time. It doesn't matter how many people click it.

Most of the imte now adays, thanks to googles policies, people tend to pay by the number of clicks on a website. This is so the company does not lose any money. Twitter does not recieve much money after they pay for the site costs.

No, that's why Twitter is a good business model. They don't have to spend virtually anything for hosting and whatnot.

NG has HUGE costs because they host so much content. Movies, userpages, audio, etc. That's an enormous cost to the site. They NEED a lot more revenue than Twitter to even stay afloat. Twitter's expenses are much, much smaller, therefore they only need a fraction of the income to maintain the site.

That's if you're using google's AdSense. That's generally used by google and smallerwebsites. Twitter is large enough to get corporate advertisements. Trust me, they wouldn't be stupid enough to use a per click revenue system.
