Just curious if anybody knows if there are any (even unofficial) plans to revamp the Audio Portal?
I personally think that it is long overdue for an upgrade.
Here are some things that I would like to see (to get started) {
Support for .flac (compressed lossless = winwin);
Some rating system changes (anything);
Maybe introduce the Art Portal concept of scouting?;
Default visualization = off;
An album system or other form of track organization;
}
Some common things that turn me away from the Audio Portal {
Unfair voting: I feel bad for my tracks which I know are better than previous tracks that I have released where a common pattern is: the newer the track, the lower the score. (even though I know that I am at least improving upon myself);
Lack of organization and uninteresting AP layout: There is no way for me to coerce people to listen to my track from the Audio Portal-- the art portal has images and we have a list of links (nobody likes digging through text links)-- I know this is audio, but I'm sure that we can collectively think of something. Maybe even a button consisting of my username and track art/trackname. Also, there is no track grouping/organization;
No reviewers: There seems to be a complete lack of interest from the community in the Audio Portal-- Would this persist if it were revamped? One way to find out...
