at the grocery store, you can buy pitted cherries, which i enjoy very much, but why do they put them in a zipperlock bag, when the bag itself is filled with holes? it doesnt make much sense to me.

Some fruits such as grapes get placed in bags like that quite often. I guess it has to do with sealed oxygen making the fruit rot faster, while having holes in the bag is the fresher option

The wholes are probably to let excess moisture run out, so you don't have a puddle of water in your cherries. It's not like they're going to fall out of the holes. I'm guessing about the first part, not sure.

Unless, the holes are to stop the cherries from going off by providing air?

Just a thought.

Well, since they can't fit through the holes, I would say the bag is to prevent people from stealing 1 or more cherries, which maybe less noticeable, and the holes are to keep it fresh.

its not the holes that confuse me, they put in the effort to put an AIR LOCK SEAL on the bag with holes in it

Maybe it's like placing a bag over your own head, or doing hyperventilation. The carbon dioxide you breathe out could suffocate you. Maybe fruits also release something, which would kill it faster if kept in a sealed container? Kinda wish I knew more about this simple matter.

I think it's so that insects and bugs can't get in, but air does so they stay fresher.

Just a theory...

No, I think they have a spray for that, that's why you always have to rinse most of your plant foods (Veggies, Fruits)

so you can wash the them easily before you eat them by pouring water directly into the bag, then it drains the water and any dirt away.

They have a spray for that now? Holy fuck.

Not for cherries though, surely. I don't see them spray the cherries when I buy them, nor do I taste any chemicals when I eat one before paying.

Yes, I'm sure the holes are made to stop the cherries from going rotten, or something.

Most fruits emit some sort of natural fumes or some shit, causes them to rot faster. I read about it some time ago, I've forgotten most of it. Google it up.

More like a cherry lock seal. It's there so the cherries don't fall out in shipping or if some clumsy customer happens to grab the bag by the wrong end.

I thought it was to rinse them easier, to easily run water through the bag.

It's so the bag for the cherries can efficiently produce resources and other materials so the bag can form a hunter-gatherer community when needed.

God damnit you guys are stupid.
