The theory that I saw on TV once was that women are attracted to the 'bad boy' because their maternal instincts kick in, and they want to look after the guy in a motherly way. It said something about the women in these cases get the subconscious feeling that the guys 'need' them in some way.

I don't know about liking jerks, because I personally would bail if my guy was a tool, but I do LOVE a BADASS! A good looking badass, that is.

Confidence is what they have....probaly something that you don't :::no offence::: Thats what girls go for if your confident in yourself and have the balls to go against the grain.

It's cuz girls are attracted to guys with self-confidence [even if the guy's a jerk]. It's always great when a nice guy has self-confidence, but...They usually tend to be more timid.

This generalization has always annoyed me because it ignores cause/effect. It's not that women are attracted to jerks specifically, it's that they like hot guys and a lot of hot guys end up as total dicks, for the most part because of this attention. Guys who get everything they want, including chicks, tend to feel entitled and tend to treat other people badly. The end.
