The mods are doing a good thing by that, the new users are total shit basically, and also, users should always fear mods, if a new user pisses a mod off, the mod is the one who bans them, shit, I'd be afraid of mods.
I mean, I am, kinda... I just don't act stupid, therefore rarely getting banned lately, my last ban was on Wednesday I think, but that was just because I was being silly, besides that it had been months I am sure.

Without the scaring of the new users, they couldn't become regulars.

I'm a pretty new user and I've gotta say it hasn't been very difficult for me. All you have to do is read the rules and simply think before you post.

And I really like the system here. It's kind of reminds me of the whole social Darwinism thing. The strong (intelligent) flourish and the weak (idiots) are banned.

I think that's completely unfair, it's very rare that people are banned without breaking 'some' rule.

If the new users do what they are suppose to do, and that is, read the rules, they wouldn't have any problems posting actively on this website.

I personally believe that it's the regulars, not the mods that put fear into the newbs. We regs are always complaining how some mods are so fucking unfair, we imply they are horible people, when in fact they're some of the nicest people on this site.

When you click that little thing that confirms you've read the rules, you agree to abide by all the rules that you 'supposedly' read. It's not the moderator's fault if you say you read and understood the rules and then knowingly broke them. :)

Lots of people I know read the rules to a website, it's not like it's a terms of service you get when you install a new product, it's written in lamen's terms.

There are a lot of users on this website who have been here for a long time....some of them are bitter, so yeah, that would make some sense.

All it takes is one person getting banned unfairly for people to hold a grudge and say those things. Maybe some of them are justified...

Without trying to sound snooty, I actually did the read the BBS rules before making my first post. I think I was banned on the first day still, because I didn't really understand the spam thread rule. Still, at least I had an idea of what's acceptable and what's not. There's a reason why I, and numerous others, point the poster of a "I'm new!" thread straight to the BBS rules and to the FAQ if they have any further questions about how Newgrounds works. It might sound stuffy to some, but it's probably the best and easiest thing to do.

I think if a new user is extremely uncomfortable with using the forums, then it should be found out why, without going into an in-depth innvestigation. We're all people and with, erm, hilarious Internet social convention aside, the forums can be enjoyed by everyone. The new users can do what they're supposed to do, and the mods can do what they're supposed to do, with numerous places to talk about things that might be bugging your BBS time.
