If you are not a member of FlashGameLicense and/or FlashGameArt, you'll need an account to bid.

Bid price: $350

This is the entire game art.

This is no ordinary bid. I like to make things fun with a competition. After the deadline of July 10th 2009, I will be selecting an artist based on the skill and style shown in the entry peice. In case of a tie, the bid will be used as a tie-breaker only. The skill of the artist is the main factor in this competition.

These are the required peices for entry (see below for descriptions of required works):

--Fertile Ground Tile Set

-- Robot, standing animation

--1 plant (in the animation style of the Revert to Growth game plants on my Flash Game License profile (4 still frames fading out then into the next at the same time)

When you bid on FGA, link me to your entry swf in the comments.

This competiton will likely extend outside of the FGL/FGA community, just so you know.

IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT A COMPETITION PIECE, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE JOB.

Required Work Details:

All animations in 35 fps

Tile base size = 20x20

Max tile size = 30x30

Screen size = 460x400

Tile set example: http://www.weebly.com/uploads/1/3/2/6/13 26038/tile_example.bmp (like this, but not crappy art :P)

The stone set will of course not be exactly like that, but Tiles must smoothly integrate into each other, including the corners together.

-Preloader: 100 frame animation

-Menu Screen (5 buttons)

-Credits Screen (5 categories: programming, art, audio, sponsored by, other thanks)

-Level Editor UI: 400x 300

-10 Backgrounds (to be used in-game) 460x400

-36 Tiles total, consisting of:

---12 Fertile Ground Tiles:See tile examples

--- 12 Semi-Fertile Ground Tiles:See tile examples(Mostly dirt with a few bunches of grass, except the center tile of course)

---12 Stone Ground Tiles :See tile example(stone ground tiles are different, as they dont have grass. Outside tile should be slightly larger than 20x20)

-Movable rock: 45x45px

-4 different plants, 4 still shots each (progressing in growth)

-Pause Menu with options

-Robot: 60x40 (must move on treads, standing[so to speak], moving, and jumping animations))

-Flying Robot: 20x20 (Think 343 guilty spark from halo in style)

-Door: 60x60

-Victory/Submit Score

-Find a font to suit the game art style

No I'm not selling art, I'm hiring an artist. It essentially a competition for the job.

The artist has to pay to work with you?

OMG!!!

No. I will be paying the artist. I must have worded this whole thing strangely. On FlashGameArt, artsit bid on projects, but the bids arent for how much they pay, its a competition in essence to see who will do the work for the amount that they bid. Say you bid $400. You are accepting the job and will be paid $400. But then the next guy comes along and bids $380. He is willing to do the work for less. I hope this clears things up. This is just how things work on Flash Game Art.com

Like I said in the post, feel free to bid $400, because it's the quality of the artist that matters to me, the bid amount will only be used in place of a tie.

what do you want the robot to be like?

i can't find anything on your profile =(

-Robot: 60x40 (must move on treads, standing[so to speak], moving, and jumping animations))

these dimensions arn't backwards right? so you want a short stout robot on treads?

This is rather stupid. I say just find the BEST artist you can, and pay them later. I doubt anyone will randomly sign up for a website and compete to animate for you.

I code in AS2, in case I forgot to mention it.

@minus: The robot is whatever you want it to be like. You're the artist.

@ActionSick: Added. PM me with your questions if I don't get a hold of you soon on MSN

@Archon: Is it rather stupid? By having people compete means I CAN find the best artist.Maybe you just cant animate well enough to win against the multiple other artists competing to work with me. Do you know why people would compete to work with me? Because my games are popular. My last game has gotten around 3,500,000 views across the internet, and my next one is looking like its going to more than double that. The site I stated is good for getting work if you are a capable artist, so signing up for the site would have multiple benefits as opposed to just working with me. You could get mulitple projects and make more money. And money is good, right? Of course, if you dont want the $400 from me or any of the $1000+ projects on the site, then thats fine. Money is rather stupid, right?

No, it means you can find the cheapest artist. People like Adam Phillips probably won't go as low as someone with animation skills that aren't as good. The better people are, the more expensive they are.

Maybe you just cant animate well enough to win against the multiple other artists competing to work with me.

That's correct, I can't. I'm a programmer.

I code in AS2, in case I forgot to mention it.

I apologize for mis-understanding you, but i don't want people to compete with bidding per se (I encourage everyone to bid no less than the max, so they get the most money. I want people to compete with their art. If Adam Phillips decided to bid $400 and submitted a great piece, then I would choose him over people with good art that would do it for free.

I noticed that you were a programmer after looking at your profile. Good for you :)

Like I said, I apologize for mis-understanding you, but perhaps you mis-understood what I want from this competition. I dont want the cheapest artist (I've already had a guy offer to do it for free), I want the best artist for my game specifically, which is different for every game. I don't care about the money, I fully expect to pay the $400 and I fully encourage people to bid $400.
