Well, I personally use anagrams in a sarcastic way. My normal posts usually don't have "LOLZORZ! I PWN U!!!" in them on purpose unless it's used in a joking manner.

The BBS is all about socialising and having fun, at least in General. As much as I try to put a chatty, informal and funny tone on a lot of my longer posts, it's a fact that you can enjoy a short post much easier than a longer one that might be horrendously stuffy, ambiguous, etc. It's really just a style that fits me, on a BBS that I happen to enjoy using a lot. If every user was being forced to make longer posts under threat of being banned or deleted, the user base would probably dry up pretty quickly. Even those of us that love reading would get tired of it.

I think a lot of it is about posting in threads that you actually have an active interest in, something I picked up from a certain mod some time ago. Looking through my previous recent posts, you'll see that a lot of them are on similar topics. When I see a thread about the upcoming literature features for example, I get all excited (yes) because I'm passionate about writing. I also have a very smug demeanour; I poke my nose into places where it's not really needed (or wanted). I'm looking at you, open discussion thread...

As Poozy said, some may find me, or another user that makes drudgingly long "mildly annoying" (I laughed) posts. As I've said time and time again, I think the BBS community is far better than most give it credit for. After all, that's why most of us keep coming back. I think things are largely fine with what goes down day-to-day really. Hmm.

As Zerok said, it's probably natural for him as a writer. If you are used to writing (or in this case typing) a lot then there's little "effort" required; words just come to mind easily and before you know it you've written paragraphs upon paragraphs on whatever the topic at hand is. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that writers can actually find it harder to write concisely, as they'd be accustomed to being descriptive and emotive as opposed to being to the point.

Now quantity =/= quality with regard to posting habits, but they undoubtedly do go hand in hand to a certain extent. If you can make a valid and relevant observation in a line or two, that's fine, and making a similar observation over the course of a few paragraphs is equally palatable. It's just that it's much easier to fall into the trap of irrelevancy when only a few words are used as opposed to having to think through a paragraph or so.

Everyone knows my sarcastic, dry wit. Its why everyone loves me and why I've lulled myself into a false sense of security and egotistical "Wrong forum" posting.

It's all about thinking about your post before clicking that little "Post it! >" button. If you've got something to say, why not half ass it? I agree with scarab on the sentiment that posting only in threads that interest you does make a difference than posting in every thread. Taking the time to read and write shows that you do want to make an active contribution to the thread/forum in general.

Eh, I've had my fair share of tl;dr posts (maxed out the character limit on more than one occasion) but I've also had my fair share of single line posts too. Depends on what you need to say and how effective you can say it.
