^^ same here, in the US, soccer ranks behind tv poker tournaments and Bowling in ratings

but I guess the US soccer teams takes it seriously

This tournament isn't really worth anything, though. It's only purpose is to prepare the host country's infrastructure for the world cup.

True, but it does have a psychological significance as well. Brazil and Spain were the two teams who were expected to contest the final, as they are the champions of the two best footballing continents of Europe and South America. For both of them to fail to win the tournament having been beaten by underdogs would be somewhat humiliating, and it might damage their confidence going into next year's World Cup. It also puts the USA (should the scoreline hold up) on a high going into 2010 and solidifies their place as potential dark horses for the World Cup.

Im actually happy that USA is winning. I think that in the near future they will be a 5 star team and be able to beat Brazil any day.

Sorry, but the stars mean world cup wins. We would need to win the next five world cups to be a five star team.

That is strange, US football has always been abit crap, plus brazil are easily in the top 5 countrys for football perhaps argueabley no#1 .. weird that.

The answer's simple enough: the US players are playing their asses off and grafting very well as a physical side, and then hitting Brazil on the counter attack, which the Brazilian defence can't handle. Brazil are and always have been a great footballing nation, but the secret to their success has always been the "score more than the other team" approach, their defence has always been their weakest point historically, so if you can smother their attack line they are vulnerable.

Yeah, one of them. also Germany is really good, but if youre talking club soccer, the english ones are some of the best, man red, chelsea, which is owned by a russian, thank you. I also like PSV Eindhoven, but I have no idea why

If the US means we'll gain a lot of respect but unfortunately not enough to be recognized as a major football power..
