I'm Scared Of Rollercoasters; Halp!

Ugh.. So yeah. I'm shitting myself. Reason? My school has organized a trip to the theme park Black Pool - Pleasure Beach. I'm so excited, ive always wanted to go but i never had, there's one thing bugging me though. If you look at the major rides section of the Pleasure Beach website, you might notice.. The Pepsi Max - Big One. Okay.. For some reason, i'm pooping bricks. Mainly going up that damned 234ft long hill. The noise of the track, it'll drive me insane. Fuck, i can't go a minute up there. The angle will me been feel queasy. The view will make me feel scared. The top is something to dread. It's just so fucking scary for me!

BUT. I must go on it. I will regret it. I'm sick of shitting myself. My friends love rollercoasts and they want me to join in on there fun. And i wanna have fun to! I'm looking forward to Infusion. Thats 100ft, and loops like fuck and is suspended over water, so drop your cell phone and your fucked. But it looks so fun. It's just the Big One. The hill, it looks so scary. I hate it.

Can anyone give me any help of conquoring this fear or atleast... Making it feel less freaky?

Oh, also, are you scared of big ass'd rollercoasters?

Just do it. Don't think about it one bit. just do it. Don't let yourself be an obstacle in your own path. Once you do it, and see there's nothing to truly be afraid of, you'll probably want to do it again. It's quite the rush.

Tackle it head on, ride it first car with your hands up in the air.. Try to go into it thoughtless and just take it all in as it comes and I'm certain you will love the experience and want to ride it again.

I love roller coasters and I was a bit nervous too my first time.

I also have a fear of rollercoasters...though for me the fear is more that I don't breathe on the way down. I have to echo what the others have said before me though. Once you strapped in, there's no going back. I remember one specific time I was at King's Island with my boyfriend and he really wanted to ride "The Beast." I didn't want him to ride it alone and we were there to celebrate his birthday so I agreed to ride it with him. As soon as they had strapped me in, I started saying I wanted to get off but at that point it was too late.

Case and point, I survived but I won't ride it again. It did feel good though to be able to say, "I did it!"

Anyway, nobody can force you to go and if they are really your friends they will still accept you if you don't want to.

If you want to do it, just remember that it will never kill you. It can make you sick at worst. If you can conquer the fear of sitting in it until the bars go down, it will be over in no time.

I myself am too afraid of rollercoasters just because I can't control their speed or actions. I will never ride any wild attractions also.

I used to be scared of roller coasters. To help myself I just thought about something else on the ride. Although that's a little hard considering it's a roller coaster...well anyone, I eventually lost my fear and was able to do roller coasters without being scared.

It's true. I saw 6 year olds go on "The Behemoth". It's 230 ft tall, 5318 ft long, and goes 77 mph. You can see the entire park from it.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach and its rides are fucking shit, I've been like 40 times and through them 40 times I've been on the Pepsi Max about 37 (too small the first couple of times and once it was broke down) - this is coming from someone who absolutely hates rides, but that shit is nothing.

Just think about your fears, try to analyse the aspects of your phobia and figure out what's scary about those things. I used to be somewhat afraid of roller-coasters but I quickly got over it. Oh yeah, and your lucky your friends didn't ever force you to go on this. Also just ask yourself: It won't kill me, what's there to be afraid of.

Just get in line. That's all you need to do. Once you're in the line, whenever you think about leaving just tell yourself that you've been waiting in line for x amount of time and if you leave now all that time will have been wasted.

I'd take a guess it's your first rollercoaster experience. Well, usually they will tell you to stash away loose objects that you might be carrying to avoid causing harm and/or damage.

Don't be scared anyways. It's okay to lose your lunch and/or breakfast while riding one, but you should be all safe and sound case they're engineered to be safe. My advice is to take a middle position on the ride. So you'll not be on either extremes of the coaster.

I agree completely!!! I used to hate rollercoasters, but the thrill and the feeling it gives you... Your pumped fulled of adrenaline, and it feel fucking amazing!!!
