You can still upload pencil sketches to your userpage, just don't check "include in portal". The Art Portal is for completed and polished pieces, it doesn't need to be filled with pencil line drawings. If you have a refined pencil drawing or observational drawing, than go ahead and upload it to the forum. Otherwise, just leave it on your userpage.

Also please read the Art Forum Rules before posting, all new threads must have an original work of art in the first post.

But you can submit them to your user page. When you submit a sketch do NOT check the "Public Work" box.
