hahah you didnt even let anyone answer...blast you!!! i thought it was that one song where that guy with down syndrome sings "i work at burger king, making people whoppers, would you like a whopper now, would you like a whopper now, fresh baked apple pies.." and so on..,
If you dont stand for something, you'll fall for anything
hmm at the top of my list is gnr-november rain, led zep-kashmir, the who-wont get fooled again, stairway to heaven, one-metallica...some others, but 42 minutes? ..crazy

or fingers and arms would be in a lot of pain, may not be alot of singing in that song

Not really, because they don't have a singer.
Aren't there any classical music songs that are longer than that?
The longest song with a singer that I heard was "The end" by The Doors.

I don't know why anybody would make such a long song. It'll get boring in about 4 minutes.
If anyone has the DVD of Fight Club. I listened to the menu music for like an hour. It's still carved in my mind.

Thats what Radiojockies call a "dump song." Thats when the DJ goes and takes a break to take a dump.
The Messiah. It's a symphony thing. I have no clue how long it lasts.
In 1968 Iron Butterfly came out with "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" [In The Garden Of Eden] which was incredibly long for that time at 17 minutes and 5 seconds in length.
Other long songs would be Meatloaf "I Would Do Anything For Love" (11:57), Deep Purple's "Child In Time" (10:14), and Led Zeppelin's "Carouselambra" (10:32).
But in this day in age, just go to any jam-band show (ala Phish), or get a live bootleg and you'll find a 4 minute song get stretched out for 30-40 minutes.

Idiot, Dream Theater has a singer. He just dosent sing all the way through the song. And to clear up the guy talking about them getting tired, not bloody likely, Peturcci (guitar) and portnoy (drums) are gods. Plus they dont play super hard for the whole song, its fluxates, still better than any badn you nimrods can think of (although i hate thier singer).
Longest song i ever heard was by some goth rock band(might of been cradle of filth buts its been awhile), annoyed the shit out of me too think it was around 15 mintues.
the first song on atom heart mother by pink floyd is like 25 minutes long
Pink Floyds Shine On You Cazy Diamond goes for 27 mins.
And The Wall is like a continous song. It goes for 90 mins.
I DON'T WANNA SOUND GAY OR NUTHIN', BUT THAT SHIT IS HOT!!
I created a song one time that covered the entire span of a full length CD, 72 minutes. I didn't really call it anything because I couldn't think of a name worthy of such a monstrosity, but it was 72 minutes of sonic art, pure electronica bliss.
It is the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friend. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they continued singing it forever just becuase it is the song that never ends...

78 minutes. I'm listening to it now.
Rapper's Delight was two hours I thought...or maybe I'm retarted.
"Shine on you Crazy Diamond" would have to be pretty high up there.
It took up a whole album apart from "Wish you were here" , "Have a cigar" , and "Welcome to the Machine" as far as i know.

DAMN.... 42 minutes, I thought that 14 minutes was a long time for a song but 42 minutes is friggin insane!

Lord Abortion? A Gothic Romance?
Most of Cradle's songs top 6 Minutes, so I dunno Oo;;
The only music that I can think to compare is clasic orchestra which can last up until 30 mins sometimes. I also made a song called "smashed glass" that goes for 10mins. Ill have to hear the song you wrote about sometime

i got a longer song
BT - Sasha's voyage of Ima. 46 minutes long!
in-fuckin-sane!
That's damn near insane. The longest song I've ever heard of was 17 minutes and that was In-a-Gadda-da-Vida. I have a Bill Cosby routine that's 100 minutes though. Does that count?
I used to be a BBS mod, plzdontban kthxbai :D
Back on a semi-intermittent basis
Bacon vodka? It's more likely than you'd think!

Some other long classics are:
Pink Floyd's Dogs 17:02
Edgar Winter's Tobacco Road 17:09
Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restraunt 18:37
Deep Purple's Space Truckin' 19:53
anyway, i beleive i was a bit short there.
Klacid, whats with the picture of Rei from the Evangelion dating sim? you need a sig, man.
anyway, the extended version of Metallica's "Seek and destroy" was insane. clocked in at 10+ minutes. heard it at the Summer Sanitarium.
I was never able to finish BT's "Sasha's voyage of Ima" cause it was SO FUCKING LONG!!!! the song is 46 minutes and I was only able to get to 30-somethin' minutes. the song gets more insane by the minute.
one day i'm hoping to complete it.
Longest song I've heard is "Better Man" by the John Butler Trio.
It goes for about approx. 8 mins
Let's see..the longest songs I have on my computer are:
Tool - Reflection 11:07
Tool - Third Eye 13:47
Also, I have The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, each movement is a seperate MP3, and they are each around 11 to 11 1/2 minutes long.
