3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsDoes anyone here have tips for getting views on YouTube without being a total douchebag?
Examples of such "douchebaggery" would include:
1. Posting comments on famous/already well viewed YouTube channels/videos advertising your own
2. Spamming random viewers' inboxes on YouTube with messages begging them to watch your video
3. Begging the staff to feature you (it doesn't work, it never does)
4. Posting very unrelated tags on your video (like, on a spoof video I made of Transformers, tagging it "Vagina, Tits, iPhone 3GS, FRED, Whatthebuck, sxephil, nigahiga, over9000, anonymous, 4chan, porn, free money, etc")
I could go on for days, is there any honest way to get YouTube views? I only have 5 subscribers, and around 19 views for all 6 of my videos.
Honest advice needed, thank you Newgrounds

Honesty and Youtube.
Lol. You're fucking fucked. Youtube promotes the channels that gets them hits. You have to be a cutthroat now to get views.

But what I don't understand, is how do you get yourself out there in the first place? How do you let people know that your channel is there without spamming the fuck out of them?

Advertizing yourself in spaces alotted to you on Newgrounds (Sigs, Userpages, what have you) and telling your friends who have accounts or visit Youtube often. If the video is relevant to another video, then by all means post it as a video response or something.
Like I said, be underhanded if you need to be, but only if it's not desperate. You can try to think of more tags, or change the title a bit to something more interesting to the search criteria.

The success of that kid has always confused the fuck out of me. UGH. Plus, even if my videos were really really funny (I'm not going to tell others that I'm funny, because I'm not a douchebag, and I wouldn't be able to judge that for myself), they still would go under the radar because nobody knows my channel exists.

Thank you actually, I think I'm gonna start making video responses and putting my link in my sig. :D
The best way to do is. Make Good Videos....

No. You must make videos that will appeal to a large majority. For example, HotForWords makes videos about linguistics, and nobody gives a shit about that. But she's hot and has an accent, a look and a role that arouse all the kids and perverts at Youtube.
My signature was old so I changed it.
Well, make videos intresting like i do :D
Now here i am with 1,324 subscribers and my most viewed video has over 126,000 views :D
Basically just make alot of videos that you feel are intresting
you should get loads of views and subscribers.
Thats what i did anyway :)

No, there isn't.
Post a video that is good enough to draw views on it's own.
Youtube has a snowball effect you grow faster and faster the bigger (IE:More subscribers and views) you get.
Be funny and original, or make your videos on something you have a passion for. I enjoy making computer tutorials, so I do that. I also like videogames, so I make videos on those occasionally as well. YouTube doesn't 'do' honesty. They promote the people who get them their hits - to hell with anyone else.
Get your friends to look at your channel, get them to sign up, whatever. Get them to subscribe to you as well - it's better than nothing. I made a video ages ago on a topic I thought nobody would ever care about - it's got 3,000 or more views, making it my most viewed video.
If you're not on YouTube because you enjoy making good quality videos, then you shouldn't be on YouTube. Make videos because you enjoy doing it - not because you want to get views and become a YouTube Partner.
I'm on Last.fm!
Also, I used to be YeOldeSierra. Now I'm just Sierra :3
Hahahaha I have over 350 subscribers. I just made lyric videos and got plenty of views.

Really need to change this rubbish username.
Youtube is a big corporate shit fest right now in my opinion.
But regardless it's the only place I can find most of my videos right now reliably....

Refresh the page millions of times, that still works right? But who gives a shit about view counts anyway.

I lol'ed.
RubberJournal: READY DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE IT!
Mathematics club: we have beer and exponentials.
Cartoon club: Cause Toons>> Charlie Sheen+Raptor
Easiest ways:-
- Make the video high quality.
- Set it as a video response to a popular video that is similar.
- Make it short, people who lurk youtube have short attention spans.
- Originality nearly always trumps something repeated over and over again.
Hope this helped.
