Anyone here have any know how on developing Ipod touch apps? If so, I'm looking to fund a small game for a school project. If all goes well, it'll be added to the App store and all involved can split profits equally, but in general, this is for my %80 average in computer technology.

My group has up to about $1000 to invest (school limit). It's not a project to develop an app for Touch Pod, but a project to develop something computer related (I won't go in to details of the limits and restrictions given).

Thanks!

PS: We already have some simple game ideas, and money upfront. Also, a graphics person for the icon and possible music people for the sounds,

I may be missing something, but I don't understand how it's much of a "school project" if you are paying someone else to do it?

Or more to the point when did schools start giving students money to throw around?

to be perfectly honest i don't think it's a good idea at all to develop an ipod/iphone app for a school project, but on top of that i doubt apple would approve of you for the app store any way!

what are your time limitations?

About 6 months (left). I can see why you'd think that, but Apple has approved games/apps much crappier than this one. We've already filled out applications and are working on another app at the moment. We just can't make a GAME app.

At Urbn: We can make an App, just not a Game app.

@ Jon: Since we pay 30-40k per year, I don't see how that's odd for a 20 student course (20 per year). We've had more money to play with for group projects.

Its strange because Unis are tight as hell when it comes to money! Sure staff get budgets but rarely dose that money find its way to students. Unless this is your own money? In any case I would suggest posting this on gamedev.net as wel as your more likely to find people who would be willing to take this on / have the knowledge to see it through.

gamedev.net is full of people interested in indy games and thats basically the kind of developers apple targeted when they launched the iPhone and the iTouch

Im pretty sure a Mac is more than $1000 (either you get one of those, or no iPhone development for you).

You can do anything with the aid of a wee VM here and there

Yeah, you can get a free version of the dev kit from Apple. but you need a Mac to run it.
