Graduaion Hats!

At graduation were you allowed to throw your hat? our teachers told us not to because in one school a student got his eye hit and he was blinded. Everyone started laughing and the teacher said "this is not funny....such a wonderful day was ruined by a tragic event..getting blinded by a hat is not funny!" of course we laughed harder. We all ended up doing it 3 times during the ceremony because it was fun...and to piss off the teachers. What was told to you about throwing hats?

lmao at the first toss i turned around at hit my friend. Then he stole my tassel and hid it from me..he gave it back though lol.

yeah we were allowed to throw our hats (btw my graduation was last wednesday woo!) but anyway yeah and a ton of people threw them at the audience and stuff. idk how i managed to find mine back, prbly isnt mine in the first place haha.. and my graduating class is fucking like 476 strong... huge ass school...

At our school they count to three and they throw them. It's kinda lame though, because it's organized by the teachers and junk like that.

Of course we threw them, I gave a carefully aimed toss and caught it on the way down. The girl next to me was a bit more aggressive and ended up nearly losing her hat. I'm sure the ensuing chaos was worth it to the other graduates, though.

I never really understood the purpose of those hats, who would actually go around wearing them? Maybe some medieval scholars used them as a portable umbrella or something. You never know...

I just waved mine around, but I think my class didn't really throw ours. Maybe it was different because you were on the floor and can't see from the stands, I'm not sure.

I graduated from high school and I'm going to graduate from univ for the second time.
Unfortunately none of them was/will be with traditional gown/beret.

It's not a tradition in my country, I guess.
