I'm just curious and there's probably an old thread about this, I use a tablet myself, mainly for art but how many of you guys use it for Animation(s), I'm trying to learn flash, I want to know if it'd help me DRASTICALLY.

SUPERFLUOUSLY.
I used it until it broke.
Now I've got a Cintiq on my Birthday list.

I own a Wacom Bamboo but have not used it much because I am more of a programmer than an artist. In short, I don't use it.

I also use a wacom bamboo. It's been about a year; hasn't broken yet...

I'm sure it will soon.

i've got a tablet and beat the crap out of it on an almost nightly basis, last night i plugged around in flash (which i have no idea how to use!) and figured out how to make frames and stuff, yes a tablet is going to makes things MUCH easier for you unless you plan on making lazy sprite or stick figure shit.

as for how long they last, I have an ancient Wacom GD-0608-R and I'm fairly sure if I threw it accross the room it would still work, don't know much about the silly bamboo ones though.

Lol me too. I like tablets, but I honestly only bust it out for very specific tasks. When I need something to really look painted, I use it. It works very well with Z-brush too. Pressure sensitivity for displacement maps is a wonderful thing. I almost never use it for Flash though. :D

It definitely helps! A more specific suggestion is that you shy away from the genius tablets and go for a wacom or even a cintiq( if you have that kind of money =o) because i got a genius, and it worked ( to a point) for a resounding 2 months before it died. it never even worked super well, very jittery. so anyway morale of the story: dont cheap out, go for a name brand!

I love my Wacom more than I would love my Honda if I had one.

Next time someone tells you to "Leave room for the holy spirit.." ask them if they are implying you have a threesome.

It was a gift from my parents and I persuaded too much for it. It holds sentimental value.
I used to use it before, but nowadays I have concentrated on programming. Maybe I'll use it in class at the university starting next semester.
