How do you actually "delete" your recycle bin, or just make it disappear off the desktop? I can't get a hold of Chuck Norris to do it for me.

That sounds like it would create some sort of paradox.

Then how do you delete the shortcut?

You make another shortcut and put the old shortcut in the new shortcut.

Then the fucking process repeats again.

It's like dividing by 0.

Well like, the shortcut wouldn't direct to anything after that, and it'd probably explode.

well if you deleted the shortcut the program would still be there so i doubt that would do anything other than replace the shortcut with another shortcut over and over. I don't think you

omg I have to think of a clever sig!

I just tried making a short cut and putting the bin in it. It works with no problems. It doesn't so much delete the recycle bin as much as it figures out you don't want it on your desktop anymore.

My computer is smart.

When you're on Vista you can just make it there again through Control Panel > Personalization > Change Desktop Items.

You can't delete the recycle bin. It's already a shortcut on your desktop. If you create a new shortcut then you have 2. If you put one shortcut in another, you have only 1 shortcut. If you delete that final shortcut you don't delete the ACTUAL bin, just the shortcut.

I've deleted it plenty of times on all my computers.

If you're using Windows XP Professional, then you can do so by going to:

Run: gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Desktop -> Show recycle bin on desktop -> Double-click -> Disabled.

I may have left out a few stages, since I did this a long time ago, but that's the gist of it. Keep in mind that it only works in the professional edition of XP.

Then you will delete the recycle bin and the shortcut will be linked to nowhere
