I was wondering what music player the genereal community of NG prefer, so let us all know, which one and why.

Personally i use Windows Media Player becasue it came with my machine and I'm too lazy to change it.

iTunes. It's simple enough to use, and works faster than WMP for me.

I use songbird and sometimes winamp. Songbird is customizable. I don't like iTunes just because of the problems I have had with it and some of my ripped music.

Foobar. Opening the files you want to hear is very convienient and orderly, it's very customizeable, and there are tons of add ons. If you know what you're doing then it's awesome.

I use both Virtual DJ and iTunes, but I would drop iTunes in a second if Virtual DJ had a shuffle feature.

iTunes is more broad as far as the code of the songs that are allowed. Also, WMP can't play my Dream Theater. Fuck them.

I just use the internet and use my mp3 player while im on it

My favorite has always been WMP 10X I think it was called. I have it on both my desktops with XP. But when I got my laptop with Vista, it came with WMP 11, which sucks balls. Plus you can't downgrade it on vista >=(. So after trying out half a dozen players, I fell in love with Winamp. So much better then WMP 11, and it feels a lot like WMP 10.

I use iTunes, but there's one thing that drives me berserk: It won't let me play ONE SONG out of an entire album that I BOUGHT ON ITUNES and it says it's not authorized to play on my computer and I can't get that message to go away... (plays on my iPod though)

My iPod got busted, but before it did I used iTunes. An older version. It's defiantly the easiest. I really don't have a need for anything else because I stopped listening to music on players, I just listen on hypem.com or blip.fm, or I use the last.fm player.

I use iTunes, but I haven't really looked around for a decent third party player. I've only used iPods so there hasn't been a need.

Am I the only one who just goes on YouTube, searches for songs, and listens while browsing the BBS?
If I can't do that, I just listen to my iPod or the few, mediocre tracks I have saved on my computer through WMP because I don't feel like downloading a fancy shmancy media player.

I use iTunes, mainly out of habit, but also due to the neat perk that at college, everyone on the network is sharing their library, so I can listen to their music for free, as long as they have iTunes open ^_^

It's...ok. If you buy a lot of songs off itunes it works, but otherwise...

I use Winamp. I used WMP until last spring. It's really incredible how superior Winamp is. I have also used iTunes, but I don't like it very much. Winamp is more visually pleasing and the flow is very natural. It does all the simple things you didn't realize you really liked. It's also very handy with the keyboard.

One thing I hated about WMP was that it refused to play some of my files because I had taken them off of LimeWire. Winamp doesn't give a shit what my files are. It just plays sound files (and video files, too. It's great for all your .flv needs).

For the past few years it's mostly been Winamp, although Foobar wasn't too bad. The bad thing is that my speakers are crackling so it's more difficult to listen to tunes..stupid Dell laptop.

KMPlayer The fucking best video and music player, it plays ALL videos and music i haven't found a file to date it couldn't play. its easy, simple and free.
