Creativity. In every sense. Music these days is just hugely derivative, and that isn't even counting the masses of covers that plague the charts. Modern art is.... just bullshit. And don't get me fucking started on architecture. Every motherfucker that builds a house thinks it is hugely clever to juxtapose new and old. So they take a building, decorate the interior in a minimalist style, then put thatching on the roof. They then sit back and bask in the glorious light which they truly believe shines out of their own arseholes.

Videogames that used pixelated sprites. The early 2000's had the last videogames that used pixelated sprites such as Diablo II, Baldur's Gate II, Stronghold, ETC...

Original movie ideas that will leave a mark on cinema history. Lately, a lot of movies I see are remakes, sequels or an adaptation of a book/videogame/cartoon.

Trust me, I'm a teacher and I know how little creativity is left in this world.

People can just choose not to have a cell phone. I've managed to get by without one, and personally I don't think I'd like people being able to call me at any time or place.

ugh... you have no idea what this extends to in my part.my older brother sleeps in my room and he suddenly decides he needs a $300 phone.then at around 2AM at night his boyfriend (and i really mean it, this guys texts him CONSTANTLY, so i am inclined to believe there is more to it when he says 'is there anyway to stop my balls from sweating?') decides to text him 30 fucking times when my brothers in the living room crying about a broken arm, so i almost have the balls to start up a fake ass conversation with this guy and try and get him to slip up into something.....gay they did.

Yeah. I forgot my phone once and missed an important call informing me I had died. I wasn't aware I was dead until I got home that day and checked my phone.

Damn that day sucked.

You died? Sorry for your loss. I know it's hard to lose someone close to you, but I cant imagine losing yourself :(

Define 'true music'.
a.k.a none of today's screamo bullshit thrown in the mix with 50Cent's horrendous rap and other earbleed-causing atrocities. Equals to pre-1995 music.

YES! I couldn't agree more. I love old music (pre-1995ish). Who thought it was a good idea to have horrible music anyway?

This generation will lose everything and their lives, if I have anything to say about it.

As for music- lots of people are saying this generation will lose it- there is ALWAYS good music and there is ALWAYS bad music. The proportions may change, but especially for something as enormous as the recording industry, there will not be any shortage of new, good music in the foreseeable future.

yes the ability to have their minds blow by tech such as the iphone. Its mostly because they were born into tech like we have today so its not easy to amaze them like we today are amazed. i tried to explain y the iphone was so amazing to my little sister and she just stared at me because shes seen stuff like it already. so i just sighed.

True browsing means going out into the world (the main component) and looking through some random ass selection of film history until you find something unexpected to add to your concieness. The selection is also part of the expereince. There's no thrill of the hunt to clicking on someone's well researched filmography. That's not hunting, it's just killing. This princible could be adapted for music.

We find so many hings browsing the internet. It's like your eample but amplified to apply to everything and to contain everything. We're the first generation to actually know too much, also known as information overload.

You think this is the first generation with information overload? the printed word, radio, tv, all large uppers in the amoun t of knowledge availaible.
But there's one thing you don't get online, and that's going out in the world and expereincing people.

1. Any sort of innocence, especially that childish innocence where the world seems perfect because you're sheltered from all the horrific things until you reach a certain age.

2. Seeing a movie at the cinema. With movies starting to be released on DVD and on the internet at the same time as in the cinema it's only a matter of time before the whole cinema scene is fazed out. It's been going downhill since at least the 50s.

3. Independent businesses. I'm not gonna say anything otherwise this will turn into a long diatribe about how companies like Walmart, Apple and Microsoft are bleeding the planet dry of any kind of charm.

4. A sense of unity and community. Party fits in with number 3, partly to do with the fact that everybody is shit scared of everybody else nowdays. Not helped when you're constantly bombarded with news stories about people killing each other over nothing.

5. Antiques. In 100 years there will be nothing that was made in the year 2000 that is worth it's weight in anything other than shit. Ikea is at least partly responsible for this one.

I can think of more but it's 3AM and my brain hurts. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow.

I thought of this when I was putting the first list together. Personally I hope we're both wrong. Nothing in someone's house can capture the experience of seeing a movie in the theater. And if someone has a full scale movie theater in their house, well they just win life.

4. A sense of unity and community.

Oh yeah. We're too busy dividing ourselves up against others to present a united front of any meaningful kind.

This isn't completly true. There have been great things made. In a hundred years the Ipod might be seen the same way we see the phonograph. And surely there've been artistic works that deserve to keep existing. An album or a movie perhaps. I'm not big into paintings or photography but surly someone's taken a nice picture in the last 10 years.

Vegetables. And fruit.
Soon, all foods will be so fortified with vitamins and properly engineered that eating a candy bar will be a meal in itself instead of a treat...

And the whole concept of eating 5 different colored veggies and fruits--
I remember being a kid that eating carrot coins (without the ranch) was such a delight...

Or a cucumber with a few sticks of jicama with some lemon juice, a tad sprinkle of salt, and bright red chili powder....

Devils Food Cake, Morning Has Broken, The Glory Hole, Assimilate or Die.

Forgiveness aint easy. It don't count if it is.

1) Common sense

2) The ability to go on the internet and not be called something offensive. Oh wait, we've already lost that.

3) Patience. With all the technology we have, nobody will want to have to wait around for something to happen.

Yeah I know that one wasn't very well thought out. I should have explained better. What we're losing is more the sense of craftsmanship. Things today are designed to fit in with our "hectic lifestyles" which usually renders them cheap and disposable.
I agree that art is different and no doubt there will be art from today that is regarded valuable one day. I was really thinking of furniture, silverware, crockery, ornaments etc. The sort of stuff you see on Bargain Hunt or Antiques Roadshow. I don't believe that sort of thing is still being made.

I'm really going to miss that when it does go away. I really don't like the idea of digital distribution because a file is worthless to me. I need an actual physical copy of whatever I'm buying, otherwise it feels like I'm not really buying anything. I also like the idea of keeping a big collection of different CD's, vinyl records and movies.
