I'm not sure where it's from. It is VERY tiny. much smaller than a dime. So, i took a digital macro photo of it to see what it said on it. My grandfather has traveled around the world and collected money from other countries. FYI, I can't take more pictures because this picture was taken about a week or 2 ago at his house. After I took this picture, to my surprise, the dated year was 1567! It looks like it reads: "DIEGO DE LOSADA - FUNDADOR DE SANTIAGO DE LEON DE LOS CARACAS" It has nothing on the back, as i will show you in my next post.

I am not sure if this coin is worth anything or not, so if anyone has information about this, post it here.

Fucking old coins are of no use.

You can't sell it because it belongs to your granddad.
You can't buy it because you're poor as shit.
You can't steal it because you're most likely a pussy and have no transportation.

What can you do with it?

I collect and buy/sell rare coins... I would take it to a local coin shop to verify that it is real gold or not and if it is i would say that at auction it would sell for about 500-600 to even a few thousand.

It's not commemorative, and it's worth less of 25cents... I saw them last time I went to Venezuela...

I meant "What can you do with it" as a rhetorical question.

Wait, I was wrong. It's not the coin I saw, because the other one was on Silver....

It seems this coin is made of Gold! Too bad it lost its back side.... You could get a good amount of money for it (Or your Grandpa) but not for its ancient value, but for the metal it's made....

When a coin lose one of its sides, they lose a lot of its value...

That's pretty cool! Other than the fact that it lost some value because it lost one of it's sides. Do you know what the other side looked like, or do you have any pictures somewhere?

I don't have a pic of it, but the other side has to say "banco de la construccion" and it was not made in 1567... 1567 is the date when he founded Caracas....He was the founder of Venezuela's capital....

I have this one penny that goes all the way back to 1964 which I plan to sell someday. We should all look through our coins and find out which one is the oldest and keep them around to sell someday!

To me, the details and condition seem to be 'too nice' for a coin minted in 1567. Although I am no coin expert, my first guess is it's some sort of commemorative coin or token.

You'd be surprised at the quality of engraving at that time.

OP if you're looking to sell it, I'm sure you can find experts/jewellers on the internet to give you a price.

I'll make you a sig. Pm me or visit this thread.

That's actually a good point. If it was actually from 1587 it would be faded. Roman coins today are all barely readable.
