To build. To SURVIVE.
It's a simulator of the founding of man as a species

Oh God yes, so very true. This game taps into that tiny reptilian center of your brain established in man's earliest years.
Fear dark.
Love fire.
There are no friends, only vicious enemies (unless you're online)
Build, and make your mark upon the land.

I tought I'd join the shenanigans. I'm starting off small, just mined for the past hour and finally reached gold. Sample picture of my hideout in the light, here, took about 15 mins on the marker, and 10 on the inside.

Ah.. I remember my days as a Nomad. Living in cliffside, small rooms, next to caves. Mine out, leave. Repeat.
There's just so much to explore on this one Island I'm on now.

I'm such a westerner, I never do that. Besides a small alcove for the first night (maybe), I always have one freestanding structure that I treat as my home, and usually develop it into some sort of palace or fortress.
Can't stand that moving around, no - one - place - to - call - home crap. Makes the game feel a lot more like being poor than I like.

Dude, you should try it. At the moment, I left my old cliffhome, took a boat, a sword and some flint and steel. I found myself a little sand island that I'm constructing a beach house on whilst fighting the zombies and skeletons off. Just thankful the Creepers aren't here.

See, that's just not something I have as much fun with. Not to say you shouldn't, but I'm much more comfortable having one large fortress / palace / safehouse as my main "home" and project, only venturing away to find cloth, leather, wood, or to establish small mine huts (one room houses equipped with at least a workbench, if not also at least one furnace) at the mouth of a natural cave, mine or exposed rock and mineral face. Sure, I lose out on a little exploration, but it's not like the chance to explore is taken away permanently, and I also get a great sense of accomplishment as I whittle away at massive projects at a scale far larger than I can even sometimes comprehend.

Because they're stupid.

I'm pretty much the same way now, Ever since my first house on this world burn't down. I've just been expanding upon my current home, from a small cobblestone shack, to a larger home, with a nice big tower on top. Not to mention there's a -shit ton- of caves nearby, and I've already found two dungeons just on this Beach.
I hit another cave in my strip mine today, stumbled upon a large lava lake, and some diamond.
If there's one thing I hate, it's going up in darkness when I can hear Skeletons and Zombies.
You guys and your castles and swords.
I live in a very, very small and uneven one room house that is attached to a tree, and I keep my trusty half-built wooden pickaxe at my side at all times.
Jellyous?
I'm not very good at Minecraft.

Not yet. I'd host one (anyone with a paid account can), but my poor computer wont handle the stress and the lag would be astronomical.

Dude, it's $10.
I'm poor too.
Just built a bridge connecting my two houses which are inside hollowed out mountains. It also has a tower with a ladder that goes down to the ground.
