fate of the art forum...

So now the art PORTAL has opened up will newgrounds find the need to keep the art forum, or will they just get rid of it altogether? my guess is they're getting rid of it completly

Why would they need to get rid of it?

The portal is a place to display it, the forum is a place to discuss it, comment on it, and have fun with it.

The Art Forum is a good place to talk about art. Tom didn't shut down the VG forum because we weren't submitting any videogames in it, or the flash forum for the same reason. It's just a place to talk.

It'll stay. There will be pretty much no threads about a person's art collection, as you can see all that in their profile now, but that's about it.

You mean like when the Flash portal was introduced so they cut the Flash forum?

Dear god there was a topic about this just yesterday by Techno entitled Is the Art Forum Necessary? and I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told him and everyone else who asked me.

A forum is for fucking discussion.
To discuss things.
Like techniques.
Why don't we just demolish the whole General when the Lit Portal comes out.

I'm on sure if they're going to keep it for WIPs or allow users to put up galleries. Considering they have an Audio and Flash forum, I imagine they'll keep the art for collabs and such.

If that is the case, why is the Flash & Audio forum still here even though there is a Flash & Audio portal?

Forums are there for discussion. Portals are there to showcase your work publicly. You can showcase your work in forums but portals give your work more exposure.

But no, I think the Art thread is here to stay. There's a flash portal and we've still got a flash forum. Same goes for audio and, as such, for art.

Maybe because General is the most active forum in the BBS?

You can say to me 'Keep questions about NG in the Where is/How to? forum' but I ask in General because I get an instant answer(s) within 3-4 minutes. In the Where is/How to? forum, it takes a lot longer.

Besides: "Talk about stuff on Newgrounds, chit chat with other fans or whatever!"

Main reason is probably because General is the most active forum. In all honesty, if I were to make a thread like this, I'd make it in General.

It will probably be used to discuss art techniques and mediums. The art forum will be just fine.
