Why is "popular" capitalized?

Anyway, I was never popular at my schools. I don't even remember the guys who really were.

I hate being popular as well..

I wasn't popular per se, but I was always "known" and whoever saw me remembered who I was. That still continues today, actually.

Hmmm.... well, I'm not popular at school because I don't go to school, but I'm pretty popular in general. I like it, but sometimes it kind of sucks. Why? Because sometimes I'm invited to a bunch of different events at the same time and I have to choose to which I want to go. Another thing is that if I date a girl, everyone is going to know and gossip starts and a crapload of other stuff. Again with girls, after a break up, I normally keep hearing what's been going on with my ex even though I don't even talk to her anymore. This... fucking sucks because it's over and I don't want to know anything about them anymore.

The last people I'd like to be "popular" with are those fucktards at my school.
