Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to make a cropping function exactly like the newgrounds one for the art portal?

What language?
If PHP, this is the best thumbnailer class I have ever dealt with.
Posted from Linux. Distro may vary.

They made it themselves, they didn't follow a tutorial to develop that feature!
PHP Main :: C++ Main :: Java Main :: irc.freenode.net

There's a decent amount of documentation for the thumbnailer class.

Did you look at the imagecopy function on the php website?
It tells you exactly how to crop images simply, you can then go about adding the bells and whistles afterwards...

The UI is done in Flash so obviously a question for the flash forum, but to be honest it dosnt look that complicated if you know Actionscript. Their are a number of approaches you could take to achieve this interface, but your best asking the flash forum for advice on that one.

alright thanks!

Although your answer now appears to be with the Flash forum, you couldn't have probably save a lot of time, but actually saying you were looking for the interface rather than the "function"...
You know, for future reference.

It's actually done with javascript, not flash.

I've been thinking about cropping with javascript and I'm wondering how you do it: Do you simply take the co-ordinates that the javascript passes to PHP and use something imagecreate to create an image with that size at specific co-ords, or is it more complicated?
I make websites. Find all threads by a user, Top Newgrounds BBS posters, Newgrounds account ID, Link to specific posts and whatever else I have listed at m00d.net

Thats impressive! Here's to the man or woman with the mental JS skills then!
