Is it just me or is the fact that MGS4, on a dual layer blue ray disc being 50 gb making it the largest game ever made in size, a bit under rated?

Even if the game was horrible, the fact that it's like...the biggest console game ever has to get it some recognition.
Not that it doesn't already have enough, it got game of the year on Gamespot. But still.

MGS4 is an awesome game, it has a 94/100 rating on Metacritic.. what are you complaining about?

Nothing it's just that...no one, no website, seemed to talk about how it's like....the biggest game yet. I found it rather odd.

MGS4 is the only reason i had a ps3 its fantastic. Not quite as good as MGS3 but still great.

Not really, they never advertised it as the largest game. It was just that they had the chance to use uncompressed audio, so they went for it.. although of course they could have compressed all the audio and saved a lot of space without losing much quality, but I guess they couldn't be arsed ^_^

On the back of the box it says 4500MB or 4.5 gigabytes. Am I missing something?

That's the required hard drive space for an install. In other words, it dumps 4.5 GB of that 50 GB onto your harddrive for better performance. Reading from the harddrive is much faster than reading from a disc. Without it, load times would be terrible.

I didn't say they advertised it as the biggest game ever but Sony sure pushed that it used 50 gigs and it is only possible on the PS3. In all fairness Kojima was quoted for saying that 50 gigs wasn't enough but Sony really tried to push the 50 gig usage. Listen to any interview for a PS3 exclusive game "...and it's only possible on the Playstation 3..."

Most of the Gigs is just audio. But there is also the fact that patching the online portion of the game also takes a Gig or 2, and there are 26 songs, 20 camos, and 12 podcasts to download as well.

That could just mean they are incredibly inefficient with their programming etc.
