How does it feel? The future, I mean. You don't use glasses because you have genetic implants like Lamar Burton. You're reading this in your hovercar and reminiscing about life before the singularity. It's Earthrise, and you're already at the mining site... fare thee well...

Is this the future you envisioned? Or maybe there is something else, something perhaps more ideal, or more dystopian, that you call to mind when thinking of the future? A collection of small villages scattered across the world after the Great War of 2174, using a barter-based local economy, completely isolated from each other save for dirt roads and dilapidated highways? Feudalistic city-states? A hypercapitalistic "democracy" based in Globalist imperialism and the conquest of alien terra? A galactic republic populated by Neo-Humans and alien races, whose only goal is the pursuit of knowledge in their hyperfuturistic, Utopian spacescape?

Best Case Scenario: Earth's countries unite in order to assist each other in solving the world's problems. War would become a thing of the past. mankind would be visited by aliens and be invited to be part of a galactic republic. Earthlings would terraform and inhabit many planets within the next several thousand years.

Worst Case Scenario: Huge Asteroid hits Earth and mankind becomes extinct.

Technology will be great. Causing the upper class that can afford it to live great lives while the poor just get poorer.
I think the biggest defining issue to shape the future will be the rise of gas prices.
If gas prices rise then American industry will come back because shipping things from China will be to expensive. The suburbs will get to expensive to commute from so people will move back to cities. Large corporations like wal-mart will fall because everything they make is from China and has to be shipped worldwide. Traveling will be a luxury again, etc. etc.
Im not scared of the future.

I think you guys are grossly overestimating our future. Think about it. Test scores are, on average, getting lower each year. Music has degenerated from such classics as Journey to the kind of wigger rap shit and John Mayor kind of crap we have today. Look at television programming now relative to what our parents had. But most importantly, look at the people who are intelligent enough to be worried about overpopulation and then look at the trailer trash and ghetto rats who crank out 7 kids or more so they can get more welfare checks.

If you ask me, we are getting dumber and dumber with each generation. Although "Idiocracy" was just a movie, I fear it may actually be a reality for the future.

I believe the future to be quite bleak. Today we have corrupt governments, pointless wars, greed, human nature, climate change, degrading societies, etc.

Do you think this will all get better? I doubt it. I imagine there to be a totalitarian one-world government. Perhaps over half of humanity died in a nuclear holocaust. Maybe there was a natural disaster. Or, most likely, most of humanity will be too stupid to do much of anything.

I highly doubt the future will turn out the way everyone wants it to be (shiny, technologically advanced, hot female androids that are surprisingly life-like and will do everything you want it to, etc.). I predict a rainy forecast over everyone's parade.

Also: I can't wait to order some Big Ass Fries with my Big Ass Taco in the future.
