I think sketches would be allowed. As for the category, it depends on the content of the sketch.

Yes, they'd probably be allowed, but the category is debatable.

no it's not going to replace DeviantArt, but I'm definitely in love with the art portal. I've only scouted one person that I was lucky enough to find right at the very top of the unscouted artwork page and he's done well so far! I've been submitting my art slowly and it's such a rush waiting to see what overall rating it settles at! That being said, I guess the art portal isn't safe from zero-bombers either. People will vote 0 whether the picture is good or not just to lower the rating. I've seen some amazing pictures jump frrom 1st page in highest score all the way to 4th page. I had one of mine on the first page yesterday with a 4.6 and woke up this morning to find it had jumped all the way to oblivion with a 4.2.. I'm not usually one to care about "highest" anything or "most popular". DA has enough trouble with that stuff but it does kinda suck that people seem to bomb everything with 0s if it's got a higher ranking than theirs or their friend's. Guess that's the way of NG...

It seems to me that the quality of the Art Portal is decreasing already. Even a few hours ago, most of the stuff there was great. Now, people are submitting crap like this:

Who decides to unscout someone? If it is only the staff, I can see you guys quickly becoming overwhelmed with the task. There should be some user input.

I saw that earlier. I was wondering if someone was going to report it or not, but technically they didn't break the rules or anything so nothing can really be done right?

I admit, you've got skill to make stuff like that in MS paint. But let's face it, MS paint sucks. I suggest drawing on paper or on another program like Flash, Fireworks, or Photoshop.

Actually, MS Paint is fine for making one of the 5 categories of art allowed in the art portal: Pixel Art.

Instead of making semi-good looking sketch type art with MS Paint, if that dude instead learned how to make pixelated works of art, he'd be golden.

I know the Art Portal is new and as with anything things need to be worked out, but being unscouted because of someone above you seems a little unfair. I got unscouted, but I quite sure I did nothing wrong, there is nothing wrong with anything I've submitted or done. So I'm sure it must be that the person that scouted me got kicked from the portal, and in return so am I. It's a little unfair that I submit good art and abide by the rules and get unscouted for his (or someone else he scouted's) misbehavior. I've seen posts from others that feel the same way.

SUGGESTION!

Add a DIRECT LINK to the artist's gallery from each one of their submissions.

It's annoying to keep having to click on their name, then on their gallery.

The art portal is definitely cool but i noticed 1,000,000 locked threads in the art forum now :(

A bunch of fucktards are already submitting their shity MS paint and other doodles into the pixelart section.

Is there any way to see what people's reviews? at present the only way is on the page itself. But what about adding them to reviews like Audios one etc. Also the pages are long lots to look at maybe more space.

Couple of fixes I'd suggest with the scouting system.
1. If someone gets descouted, perhaps a PM notification to tell them why would be nice, otherwise they won't know if they, or their scouter, or someone they scouted, has broken the rules.

2. Perhaps if someone gets descouted, maybe not descout everyone ahead of them. It's not such a big deal now, but in a few years when the scouting trees are huge, hundreds of people could lose scouting priviledges over one persons mistake.

These are my thoughts, and obviously I think they should be considered.
