If you keep it clean, then it should heal VERY quickly. Cuts in the mouth heal within a couple days to a few weeks, which is why you can do this at home.

No people don't get tongue piercings to enhance sexual pleasure. I had mine done a few months back, taken it out since though. Only did it because I liked the look of it though, not for any other benefits, because there aren't any.
