We've tried putting a number of different regulations to stop audio from coming, such as Extra Audio Requests, 3 Audio Requests per month limit, and we've constantly mentioned how discouraging it is to see a massive requests list with 80% of it being Audio Requests, but since Audio Submissions are by far the submissions with the least exposure/recognition, we're going to have to expect loads of Audio Requests, and we can't just order the audio artists to stop requesting, too.

Can you imagine what the list would look like without any regulations?

O.O

Holy crap, long sentence...

I'm not even mad, that's amazing.

I reviewed another flash submission, I forgot to put [Review Request Club] though. I'll try to remember to do it in the future.

I did, for some reason at the time I didn't comprehend that it's from anchorman. I should really go to bed.

I'll do my best to keep this club at the best level and maintain it as long as I can.

Important note: Since the Art and Literature portals will be launched soon, the club will be expanded to art and lit requests. As you should know, the Art portal is technically on, but request from this portal will be enabled when it's fully available. The same goes for the lit portal but the launch shouldn't occur that soon.

Maintain it...? Do you have any affiliation with this club at all?

But...the requests for the Art portal...are being taken....?

And where did you get information about a literature portal?

While your audio reviews may need a bit of work, your flash reviews are fine, although I suggest organising them a bit more. Sometimes you have a whole block of text, and really long sentences. Organising your reviews more and making them a bit easy on the eyes will definitely help :).

Start reviewing from the latest requests list and once you've done enough reviews, post the points you gained at the end of this week (points system can be found in the first post of the thread) before I do the member's update. Then you'll be added to the club. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

hey, sorry completely forgot about this, if i start doin some reviews from latest request back, and i'll post the scores, say next weeked?

cheers for the pointers aswell dude.

I'd suggest waiting for the next requests list, which will be posted tomorrow or Monday, and then reviewing from that requests list and posting the points next weekend, since the last requests list counts for the update I'll be doing tomorrow or Monday.

If that makes any sense.

Just a quick thought, steph...

I was thinking about that flash game that wasn't on the list because it had over 50 reviews a couple weeks ago...and then I was thinking it most likely had over 50 reviews because it kicked ass. I was wondering how often something is requested with over 50 reviews and rejected. Personally, I wouldn't mind reviewing popular material every once in a while, or bringing big name audio and flash artists to the thread.

Basically, I was wondering why that rule was implemented, and furthermore, maybe if those submissions could still be added to the list, only under the heading of: 50+ Submissions.

Mainly my thoughts were that these were usually Flash submissions, and not audio, so if anything it would bring in more flash content, which could in turn motivate more members to review/join. Of course, I could be wrong, but I figured I'd at least share my thoughts...

The only problem is, with 50 or so reviews, It would cover practically all the bases, no matter how good your reviews are, and I really feel it would detract attention from those who actaully need the reviews.

Basically, I was wondering why that rule was implemented, and furthermore, maybe if those submissions could still be added to the list, only under the heading of: 50+ Submissions.

To be honest, i get the felling you'd be the only one who'd review them, and surely if you got 50+ reviews, you don't need more?

Somehow I doubt it, It would just increase our workload, It's a nice idea, but I really don't see it working.

It was implemented because the main purpose of the club is to increase the exposure/reviews of artists, and if someone has over 50 reviews, then there's no doubt that s/he already has enough exposure, and enough reviews.

Maybe we can make it that only audio is not allowed to be requested if it has 50+ reviews and not flash/art requests.

How about we vote?

NOTE - READ THESE RULES, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY READ THE RULES IN THE FIRST POST. THEY ARE AN UPDATED VERSION OF THE RULES IN THE FIRST POST AND THEY HAVE NEW IMPORTANT RULES!

Hello! Welcome to the new Review Request Club thread. This thread is meant to give the club a fresh start and make it a pleasant place to stay. In order to do this, it goes without saying that you must follow the regular BBS rules and read the C&C Advice Thread before posting if you are new to this forum.

This club aims to increase the exposure of the most under-rated Newgrounds music, art and flash artists. The other major purpose of the club is to offer the Newgrounds artists high quality feedback so they can constantly improve their work.

To the requesters:
Every Newgrounds user is allowed to request a review as soon as he submitted something. To get your work reviewed, don't post here without thinking but follow these few rules:

- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 Flash and Art requests between two updates (that's one week), and no more than 3 Audio Requests between 5 updates (that's four weeks).
- Please respond to reviews, reviewers like it and some of them are statwho... oh wait, interested in stats.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you requested, or if you requested more than 1 Audio submission, you may not see reviews on your second submission up until 3 weeks after you requested, and you may not see reviews on your third submission up until 4 weeks after you requested.
- Do NOT request without posting a link, be kind, reviewers are not robots.
- Do NOT simply say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.
- Do NOT request reviews for a submission with over 50 reviews.
- Do NOT request reviews for spam. Spam is only there to annoy, not to be critically analyzed.
- Unless you are a club member, only request reviews for YOUR OWN submissions.

To the reviewers:
If you want to join the club and complete requests, simply post in the thread saying you would like to join. Then, regular members will go through your reviews and determine if they are good enough to be part of the club. Your reviews are required to be helpful, developed and well-organised. If you need help with writing good reviews, read Fro's guide to writing helpful reviews.

Once you are accepted, you can start reviewing stuff. If you are a new member of the club, once you understand how the point system works, please post - one or two days before the update - the total points you've earned during the week. This is considered as a sort of application form, and if you fail to do so, you will NOT be added to the club.

Points System:
List updaters will keep track of each member's points in order to build a list. You don't need to post your points before each update but you can keep track of your score on your own so any error can be fixed. This is how points are counted:

5 points for a review on a requested submission (movie, game, art, or audio).
1 point for writing "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review.
3 points for posting at least once throughout the two weeks.
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post).
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations between two updates.

Club Updates:
Each Sunday or Monday, a list of all the members is created, counting up their points, featuring various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions in that list, you will get points for them accordingly in the following members' update, around a week later.

Don't forget the lists are built and updated by humans so it may be possible the update is delayed due to various real life reasons. If it ever occurs, don't get mad; calm down and wait :).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Should we have an FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.

Why a new thread?
The main idea was to give the club a new and fresh start. Since the old one was flooded by requests and not updated any more, the RRC regulars thought creating a new thread would be best for the club.

Should I link to the club in my forum signature?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the URL and if that page doesn't exist yet, Newgrounds will take you to the latest page, whatever it is. For example, "http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/107 2042/999" will take you to the latest page of this club.

RRC Signature?
Yes, at the end of each review, if you want you can write down 'Review Request Club'. There is no obligation to do so, but you'll get +1 point if you put the RRC signature in your review. You can add anything you want to it, E.G.: *Review Request Club*, |Review Request Club|, -Review Request Club-, etc, but as long as 'Review Request Club' is clearly written, you will get the point. You are also allowed to add the sig in any reviews other than requests in this club, as long as you are a club member yourself. It's all the more exposure for the club, and it's very much appreciated.

+1 point if I put the RRC signature in my review... I'm not sure if I get it correctly.
You gain 6 points for a review on a request with "Review Request Club" in the end of it, as opposed to 5 points if you hadn't added the signature at the end. If it's still not clear, read this.

Does the Review Request Club review for non-NG stuff?
No. It must be an NG submission. If you have a non-NG submission which you would like us to review, then use your common sense and upload it to NG. Also, we will only review using the 'Write a Review' method on submissions. We won't send reviews by PM, review in your newspost or review in any particular thread of yours.

Do I have to review all the requests?
No you don't have to, just do your best :). Though completing them all will give you 7 extra points.

Which requests should I review?
If you want to get points for the next member's update, look for the latest requests list in the club thread and review the requests from that list. If you review any requests from various posts in the thread which would have been posted after the latest requests list, you will be getting points for the member's update after the next one.

can u review allz mah flashz guise? kthxbai.
No.

If you have more questions, feel free to post about it in the thread or PM a member and if your question is frequently asked, it'll be added to the FAQ.

---

That's all about the club, though this new version of the club couldn't be opened without mentioning the old thread regulars who have made it a great place to spend time. Kudos to Freelance-Magician for creating the original club and to milinko959 for maintaining it for so long. Thanks also to Sonofkirk for starting this new thread and doing many updates.

Have fun!

The issue here is a murky one. How do we define "enough" exposure? Is there a point at which art (which refers to movies, games, art and audio here) has been appreciated enough? I really don't think there should be a cutoff point. That said, the exclusionary policy helps us to keep a reasonable amount of requests.

Maybe we can make it that only audio is not allowed to be requested if it has 50+ reviews and not flash/art requests.

Again, it's an issue of exclusion. For the time being, audio is under-appreciated because of the way the Audio Portal works. When the redesign hits, we probably won't have this problem to the same extent.

Also, how may audio requests have we gotten with more than 50 reviews already? That seems like a rare feat, and I don't think it would be worth it to put it in the club rules.

How about we vote?

I vote no for now, but debate should remain open and other solutions proposed. A separated review crew for audio would be out of the question, right?

Exactly my thoughts Rabid, but how many extra reviews do you think we would really get? Are authors with that many reviews even going to go searching for a club for reviews?

Also, how may audio requests have we gotten with more than 50 reviews already? That seems like a rare feat, and I don't think it would be worth it to put it in the club rules.

My thoughts as well. I haven't even seen anyone attempt to request an audio submission with over 50, so I was thinking....that it would balance out the list a bit maybe. Although I doubt much would change...I don't see swarms of people with over 50 reviews coming out of the woodwork, but idk..

Haha, I suppose that would have been ideal. I don't think the setup we have now is bad at all really, and I don't mind if the rules are changed or not. I was just thinking that maybe if we allow that rule that the list would have more flash content and maybe we could get more done as a whole, because I know that most of you don't complete all the requests, and I was thinking it would enable you guys to have more flash to review.

If the audio is really that overwhelming I suppose it could be cut down to 2 instead of 3 for the month...but I guess that's a whole 'nother discussion xD

Fair enough.

Maybe we can make it that only audio is not allowed to be requested if it has 50+ reviews and not flash/art requests.

That might help the looks of the lists at least.

How about we vote?

I'm open to the discussion at least...curious what others think about it.

It's not really about me and my reviews, I was thinking more or less it would bring in more flash for other members who enjoy reviewing flash and don't wanna touch the audio.

Somehow I doubt it, It would just increase our workload, It's a nice idea, but I really don't see it working.

Well my thoughts were that it would just barely increase the workload. How many submissions have you seen come in with 50+ reviews? I've only seen one...

Woah there, sonny. Before you jump the gun and write a one liner with RRC in it....you already did that didn't you? xD Take a gander at the rules towards the top of this page. You can find some guides on writing better reviews. Your reviews need a bit of improvement first.

Well, after checking your reviews, I think I am right in saying that you are not really what we are looking for as a reviewer, your reviews tend to be short one-liners, and we strive for better quality rviews, that give feedback, and constructive criticism that the author can really work on. If you make an effort to improve your reviews, there is a chance that you may be accepted in future, as a starting point, read the rules of this club, (Steph likely posted them somewhere on this page) Read reviews by members of this club, and check out Fro's guide to reviewing.

Hope that helps.

Sorry for not updating yesterday. Did some audio-modding and made a song for my dad's birthday and I completely forgot about this :(.

That being said, what a difference from last week. 14 requests this time round. Anyone daring for a 100%?

Update comes soon.

By the way, forgot to mention that I accidentally left out a request, 'For Ryan' by EpicFail, in the last requests list, so I added it in this week's request list..

And I also forgot to do this:

People who have exhausted their 3 audio requests a month are:
F4LL0UT

Please wait until next month before requesting again :).

Sorry for that. I'm rushing since I have some work to do...
