Could there also be an RSS feed of the latest images? This would offset a great usage for blogs, websites, etc. Really help artists get seen too.

Exactly what I'm thinking, Jollyspace got banned too, he only scouted good artists.
This whole scouter system is based off the mods or whoever's opinion of what good art is.
Hopefully this is fixed some time soon, or I'm having serious doubts on the quality of this art portal.

I hope this is fixed soon as well, I was looking forward to taking part in helping out upcoming artists here at newgrounds.

Hey guys, I have some questions about the system. So far, most of the posts seem to be leaning towards a bit of an egomaniacal view about how it's the perfect, unbeatable system.

On the left of the art you're looking at, where the rating should be, there should be an option to scout.
If it's not there, it's already been scouted, so you can rate it.

can i scout if i havent been scouted?

I really hope that if the lit portal comes out, it has a more clear system of approval. Cause at this point in time it just seems like you get a ton of in-capeable scouters, and they scout people but because the scouter gets unscouted the people they scouted get unscouted too.

^^ no, you have to already be scouted to scout.

There is also an art section on everyones userpages, like the Audio pages and Flash Pages.

The art portal hasn't even been officially added. I won't be surprised if everything gets deleted by tomorrow and the real one shows up

I think there is some confusion about the scouting thing.

You can submit stuff even if youre not scouted, that art gets stored in your userpage. it can be dumb shit like this.
If you ARE scouted and you want to submit just fun disposable art like the above, then thats fine, you just have to make sure you unclick the checkbox that says submit to art portal.

The point of the portal in its early phase is to breed art that actually took you more than 3 seconds and something you genuinely want feedback on from a wide stage of people.

The tricky part about scouting is that you arent supposed to scout people who you are friends with , youre goal is scouting people who you are investing your stamp of approval on based on the work they have shown and the potential you see in it. Thats important because i see some people just scouting people because they dated or whatever and then they turn around and submit stuff that has no business being in the PORTAL side of the art universe.

So yea. You can still enjoy the portal once youre scouted and if you got castrated well its because you scouted someone who is submitting crap or they are recruiting crap. Its a two sided blade. So you shouldnt just be all wild and throw around scouting like you won the lottery.
