the FCC once ordered TV-14 and TV-MA rated tv shows increase their ratings so that parents wouldn't accidently miss them.

Some argued that this change was unwarrented as they were already of a decent size. however, others argued that this change was perfectly justified and that the ratings WERE too small.

these people would have a heart attack on Newgrounds.

seriously, i can actually had to look for that rating, it didn't catch my attention, and when i actually DID find it it was so small i could bearly read the one letter on it.

now alot of you might not find this a problem, but i do.

what if i want to show my kids a Teen Titans flash? oops, sorry you guys saw your childhood hero violated by a giant octopus.

what if my kids like Fred? look kids! its your childhood idol's BRAINS all over the screen!

sometimes the title be an obvious sign, like "hot bitch gets fucked in the ass and cunt." but sometimes the title can be really ambiguous. like you would think a flash called "Fred the Animated series" would just be an animated adaptation of Fred, but instead its Fred getting his shit ruined.

this can get even worse when the description reads something like "fun for the whole family!" or something satiracial like that.

now i'm no censorship Nazi or anything like that, but the ambiguity of the rating system is a real issue, the ratings are small and hard to notice, we really need to increase their size or something.

i'm not proposing taking down adult content or anything, i just people to get a better warning so that some poor misguided kids don't go looking for Spongebob cartoons and end up acciddently watching this.

Yes, that one there is automatically put in by NG if you set your profile to not automatically play adult rated content. I have it set to that so I don't accidentally watch something like that at school. Sometimes people don't always rate their work appropriately and they will have a regular PLAY button or none at all depending on your settings.

I liked the old Rating layout more where what it was rated for was displayed right beside the rating.

I kind of miss seeing the reasons why the submissions had that particular rating. It would be cool if you could highlight the rating symbol and it would show a little window with the rating description on it.

newgrounds is not exactly for kids.. you can argue cause it has some "good" content but whenever you click a video there is a rating system that tells you what you're watching. On fred: the animated series there is a purple box with an M on it meaning its not kid-friendly along with alot of other newgrounds content. you have a good point but you cant bring more order to a place that doesnt want it

The ratings should have a better color code:
Everyone: green (as is now)
Teen: yellow (currently blue)
Mature: orange (currently purple)
Adult: red (as is now)

Teen and mature are currently pretty misleading. The color code could also expand to the whole bar over the animation, as pictured in this wonderful Photoshop I made.

Before you even go to the flash it asks you if want to to see it.

It is harder to see them though now, because it goes straight to the flash, but it says adult content.

I think it would be a good idea if it actually helped get the preteen people out of here. I mean I came here I think when I was 10, but I didn't see any adult content because it wasn't funny to me, i'd rather see stuff like "Halo: Marine Tales", which has language, but no teen titan rape.

Well for Adult Rated flash you have an option in your account that can make it so said Adult Rated Flash doesn't play until you click Play.

As for the ratings you're right they need to be larger as well as tell the content of the flash like they used to.

Extremely true. I wish they brought back content descriptors. I thought the Pico Portal Party would be just violent. I was extremely wrong. The ratings system is way messed up. They gave Meat Boy an M rating. WTF? It should definitley be rated T. I just mainly want content descriptors. Also, Why the fork did they give Khale 2 an M rating? The ratings system is messed up.
