the primary point of prison is to reform people by punishing them. the idea is to make them not want to commit the crime again. since you don't seem to have any intention of slowing down, you are voluntarily remaining a danger to those around you, and therefore a douche.

so when you're confronted with evidence that proves you wrong, rather than accepting you are wrong you ignore it and play it down saying you don't want "another random fight" and avoiding the issue entirely. sounds like a massive douche.

You're lucky the cop was nice enough to drop the speed significantly. He said I was going about 85 in a 60 MPH zone, got caught, and the speed was reduced to 79. I'm grateful that it was reduced to below 20 over, but it still costed about $150. Still, I was going about 90 before I was caught, maybe even a little over that. I was being an idiot, but it was on a highway, and the roads were quite bare.

Water under the bridge now though, as I've stopped speeding, at least over 10 MPH in well-populated areas.

No offense intended at all, but when I read this, I laughed and thought, I bet hes from New York, and then I clicked, and well, lol.

None taken at all. I actually really enjoy the gritty stereotypes that my city has. Mostly because they all apply to me. :)

yeah,I only speed when its safe enough, and you know, ive drivin for years, when I was 15 i had a 5 speed BMW 325 i, so, Im used to speed, and can drive accordingly.

I've only been on the road for about 3 years, but I learned my cars dimensions after the first six months while delivering pizza, so my work on local roads is about as good as it can be. Thanks to front wheel drive I can tear around corners faster than rubber's coefficient of friction would ordinarily allow. And I can squeeze past doubleparked cars at 30 as long as I've got at least two inches of clearance on either side. I swear pizza delivery totally changed the way I look at a road.

[Now I have a Mazda Protege DX, 5-speed, and yeah, its a fast little car, so somtimes you speed and wont even notice/mean to, its just one of those cars]

[ It tops out at 140 mph, 220 kmh ]

That's pretty nice, dude! I drive a rather junky 1992 Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme that tops out at 110, so my abilities on the highway are pretty impaired when compared to local. Precision lane changes got early mastery though thanks to the constant heavy traffic on the local highways.

110 isnt bad, realistically if youre racing, or something, unless youre on a straight highway, you'll never be doing those speeds, and Yeah, I got my License at 15, and I'm 21 now, almost 22, and uhh, i drove before then too, lol. and yeah it tops out at 140, the BMW topped out at 150 mph, and it redlined at 7 and a half.

and yeah, theMazdas front wheel drive too, but i dislike front wheel drive, im used to oversteer, all my cars have been rear wheel drive.

[I pulled a 4 wheel drift up an entrance ramp onetime with the BMW, like, all the way up the ramp, lol, i was going in 3rd, and i droped to 2nd, just barely turned the wheel, and just muscled the corner sideways]

I think you get "gas points" for speeding violations. If you get five within a time period, I think you get your license suspended. The amount you can get without getting your license suspended depends on the state.

Yeah but a car that peaks at 110 can't accelerate to 90 all that easily, which is a pretty average racing speed on my local highways. Your ride should achieve easy pretty smooth acceleration all the way up to about 115 right? My car struggles to hit 100, and the struggle starts at 85-90.

I'm still on my first. I guess I'm sorta looking forward to learning rear wheel, but only because it opens up a whole different set of maneuvers.

That's fucking great. hahaha

I really wish there were more drivers of our sorts on the road. It'd be nice to see decent drifts from a third person perspective more often. I guess it makes it even more special when you happen to encounter someone racey on the road, but it's so rare now it's ridiculous.

yeah i only speed on winding country roads, the kind i like to drive anyways, lol, i dont speed through cities.

and yeah, I actually found an answer to my question, lol, took awhile...

i got 2 points, if you get 6 points you get a warning, in the mail or whatever, and 12 points, they suspend my license, and the site said standard suspension length is about 15 days, points are residual, and after a year they are wiped clean

so this is really no big deal, just more money gone.....

20 miles OP? And on a Country Road? I can see how you can get a ticket. If you went 5 or 10 miles over, then that's not much to worry about. Going 20 over the speed limit? You're not in the highway pal.

Here, we can go 10 miles above the speed limit generally and 15 miles above in the highway. Sometimes in the highway, go 20 over and you may get away with it.

Going 100 mph here in Pennsylvania though I heard warrants jail time. FUCK.

Also, in Georgia, I heard that you can go a max of 80 when the speed limit is 75. Here in PA, we can go to a max of 80 when the speed limit is 65. BULLSHIT.

Although in Arizona, I heard the speed limit is over 100 mph.

the fastest Ive ever gone is 120, in a BMW, on a straight highway, but that was years ago

Like I say, i was going 50 mph, but we re talking on a type of road that usually has say, a 45 mph limit, its not like i was being psychotic, lol, I was just driving, pretty comfortably too, I was in low RPM's, the corners werent coming hard, so, i dunno, whats done is done, lol, I'll pay it, like a big boy

the speed limit is there for a reason and so is the fine there is nothing harsh about it the reason you got more than the normal is because that specific amount is more what you would call guide lines.

Here in the Midwest, if you get pulled over once you lose your permit/liscence and you pretty much start the driving process over again. You take more classes, tests, observed driving, etc.

Speeding is a crime but we all do it, if you dont speed you ARE a road hazard. Im not a tofu driving delivery boy, or a crazed dude in on a country road, but one must get to point A to Point B in a timely manner, if that means going slightly above the limit then so be it. That said i can understand going 20above on country roads/highway, but not near any homes. In Virginia We have the parkway, that is a long curvy road that runs for forever it seems, a friend claimed 109MPH speeding ticket with his Black Mazda MX-6. He is screwed but 20 above can be fought. To think i wanted to chase him that day after school.

Some states have different point values before they will suspend your license. If you get a speeding ticket from 1-10MPH over it's worth 2 points, 11-20MPH over is worth 4 points, 21-30MPH is 8 points and anything 31+ over is an automatic suspension + fines. The points should go away 1 year after the ticket was issued. I think most states will suspend your license if you gain 12 points within a 1 year period.

yeah, thanks, i found all that out already though, i got two points, when i get six i get a written warning, and 12 it gets suspended for 15 days, but like ive said, this is my first speeding ticket ever, and ive been on the road for 6 years, so all these people are just assholes, lol, like no ones ever sped before, all that holier than thou shit, bullshit, lol.

Reading through this, I sorta forgot that we're talking 20 MILES per hour, which is about 32 kph.

'Round here you can usually get away with 10 kph over the limit on the HIGHWAY. Maybe 15 if it's a huge 6 lane straightaway. But 32? Yeah, not surprised (to echo the previous posts).
