Recently, I have found an old computer that runs Win98, and hooked it up to my LAN. I downloaded the latest flash player available for it, which is Flash Player 9, I believe. I went back to Youtube, and searched a video, and when the page finished loading, the browser said it had came in to contact with an unexpected error, and crashed. I searched the web and tried some of the things they said and they all failed for me. If you know any good ways to fix this problem or any advice at all, please post them. Newgrounds BBS, you are my last hope!

Try a different browser. In work, we've recently seen weird errors tying to use Flash Player 10 in Firefox on Ubuntu. I haven't had time to investigate either, so who knows.

I also have firefox installed on it, it's just Adobe doesn't provide the new flash player for Windows 98. Thanks for the suggestion, though...

Since it's a lower end machine, have you considered using something like puppy linux instead? It's designed to run on lower end systems, and you can get a version with flash player 10 already installed.

Where can I download it? Can I just google it or what?

Take your pick of a distribution. I really like http://www.sabayonlinux.org, but you make like Gentoo, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or something else. You can just Google "Flavors of Linux."

But Pupy has especially been designed for older systems, and thus would be a much better choice than any of those.
And it's homepage is here.

Sure, you gotta use Puppy. If you use Gentoo please watch your videos on another computer while Gentoo compiles Firefox, X11 and puts Flash on your computer. This may take days :)

Save Firefox and free software!

If you mean upgrade as in 'to Windows XP/Vista", then it's probably because the computer wouldn't be able to handle it. Other alternative OS's have already been suggested.

If you own a copy of windows XP professional, I highly recommend you download the nLite version called "Windows XP Pro Performance Edition" or XPPE. It's very lightweight and runs fast even on older configurations.

However, if you do NOT own a copy of XP professional, downloading XPPE is be illegal.

the linux solution seems better though, but just giving you an extra option.
