4.15 / 5.00 16,876 ViewsI'm kind of new to Photoshop, so I'm not really great at it. However, I need as much criticism as possible on all of the drawings that I will post here. I am hoping to get better and feedback from viewers (whether harsh or nice, as long as you explain what I have done right/wrong) is welcome.
You saying "It looks good/bad, work on this ____" is pretty much what I need.
Without further text, here's my pic. It's the second one so far that I have gone far into:
Dang man... all I can say is fucking finish it :D I'll judge and give criticism when you finish.
So I liek chocolate milks.

That took 3 hours to do and I'm not really near finishing it just yet.
I'll be working on it later though.
Sitting in front of a monitor for 3 hours doing nothing but drawing Master Chief does get a bit tiring...
It's coming out pretty good. It will be easier to give some better feedback once your a little farther.
But keep it up nonetheless.
yeah that's nice and i understand you bcs I SUCK AS MY 6 YEARS OLD BRO DOES
so that's all nice
it looks pretty nice so far, finish it up, then ill offer some criticism.
What's with the blur spots around the edges?
I did the blurs around the edges because I thought that it looked right. I hope it did.
Anyway, it's done. I think I've done some big changes, particularly with color. I made the whole armor a bit darker and finished up the final parts and background. The first picture I've finished on photoshop so far, and done with a mouse. I will be getting a tablet soon.
Also, I submitted it to the new Art Portal.
What should I improve on?
very nice work the effort has payed off the light and shadow work really well but make sure there is a slight border or outline as not to blend parts
I think the shapes need to have more defined (especially at the edges), as everything seems to be a blur and blend in with everything else. Don't use white for tints/highlights, it tends to make things dough-y, use color dodge instead (or a tint of the greens). Perhaps adjust the background color so that it doesn't blend in with the figure.
Pay attention to how materials reflect light. If the suit is metallic, then the reflections should be pretty bold and hard.
But, promising start for being new at photoshop, you did much better than I did when I started.
I'm not a fan of the blur. The blur implies that he's running, but the pose implies that he's standing. They contradict each other.
Thanks to everyone who has given me feedback so far. It helps a lot to hear what you could improve on. I have taken every tip into account, and since everyone hated the blur, I guess that's the first thing I'll get rid of from now on.
I just got a new tablet, and I can already say that I love this thing. It's so much easier (and faster) to draw now.
Here's something I made. It's still a WIP:

That is looking nice so far, I love the textures, looks like old, dirty leather. Well done. =]

- the only zen you find on the tops of mountains is the zen you bring up there -
Here's the final product: "Combine City Guard"
I am pleased with the results, as this is my first time using my new tablet. Again, I am open to any criticism and advice.
this stuff looks pretty great man, keep it up.

Thanks.
Also, I submitted this to the art portal, but it's not showing up even though I am scouted. My first picture was scouted and is showing up, but my second one isnt...
I guess I need each of my pictures to be scouted individually for them to show up or something. Perhaps this is just a bug.
Anyways, thanks to everyone who has given me advice and criticism so far.

Yeah, it appears to be a bug. It says for that picture that you're not scouted, but when I click to scout you it gives me an error saying "this user already belongs to the portal". Hopefully it's fixed soon.
Damn, I haven't posted in a while.
Another WIP; Ezio Auditore di Firenze. He is the new character of Assassin's Creed 2, a game that I am waiting for to come out. Please note that this picture is nowhere near completion.
omfg, this is great... Hey, I've gotten started as a writer, and I have a flash movie/series ready to go, VAs ready, and a background design soon to be ready from jeremyLokken, so, if you're up for this, please check out all of the details on my page and get back with me ASAP.

If you want to get better at photoshop, watch videos like this.
Also, thanks for the positive comments! I will try to keep everything moe up to date on this thread in the future.
This.
Took.
Forever.
I'm glad to say that it's finally done, though. Drawing this was a pain and, frankly, I never want to do it again until I any get better.
this is pretty bad ass ive never played the game but ive seen the character and this looks realistic my advice dont change a thing :]

The direction of the cape and the whole canvas setup makes it look like he's falling, but the pose doesn't look like something he'd be doing while falling, and so it makes the whole thing look awkward.
Or maybe i'm wrong. I'm not a very good artist, so if someone else says something different, take their word over mine.

You always need at least one asshole moderator for your forum. Its not opinion, its fact
nah, He is jumping on someone to backstab them.
The biggest point of critique I have is his face... its just molten plastic...
I think the face could definitely use some more definition, it is after all the first thing we notice.
Id also put a reflection (shine into the camera/lens flare) on the dagger, to make it stand out more.
Last point I have to offer is that the logo on the top left should have been painted too I think. At the moment it doesnt really look like one picture.
nice work though, you have captured the style quite okay
I hate this gas mask / video game / Halo cliché bullshit. It's not cool or badass, just fucking boring and overexposed.

Yup, the face could have used more work. Besides that, I did try to put a lens flare on the dagger, but it just didn't work.

It's called fan art. Yeah, it's quite popular (perhaps even overused at somepoints, I agree), and no, I don't think I'm cool or badass for drawing it. I'm just trying to improve here. Also, sorry to disappoint you, but the gas masked character is from a video game as well.
If you think it's boring or overexposed, that's fine by me. In fact, I can even understand why. But I would like it if you kept the negativity out of my thread. Thanks.
I've concentrated on skin and texture on the human body. Ironically, I'm currently practicing using an Orc After all, they're similar to humans in their skin texture, except for their skin color being green. All constructive criticism is appreciated.
Orc Blademaster (WIP):
You have an eye for details and that means you will continue to improve with practice
