yeah I never thought of that. and hell, I think there are a lot of people doing something like what he's doing. a lot of the "homeless" people around baltimore beg while carrying starbucks cups.

The homeless in the Virginia Beach area are pretty well taken care of, to the extent that I'm hoping it isn't going to make a big difference if we pick up a few coins left here or there. We're not begging, and in this case, anyone walking on the street that picks up a quarter they come across would be taking it from the "ACTUAL homeless" who need it. Do you think though, on the chance that there were people less fortunate than ourselves, that we'd take what we do not need in the place of?

I doubt homeless people research good places to live, and they probably don't have enough to travel.

If you're asking for money from strangers, and taking up places in shelters, then yes you are leaching off homeless people. There wouldn't be so many facilities for them if they didn't need them.

Why don't you just give money to charity or something, you don't need to understand it to help. It'll be more dangerous than you think, for a start I can't imagine other homeless people will take to lightly to what your doing, maybe even trying to take what you do have.

But I am not currently homeless, and have the advantage of going to a place that we have chosen, and has less of a homeless population living on the streets at night to interfere with the well-being of. And for the last time, I'm not trying to experience some straight legitimate homeless circumstance. I am choosing to be homeless and provide for myself, away from the ties my friends and I have now. We will enjoy beautiful nights on the beach with a fire, even on an empty stomach if that's the way things go. We'll be stuck in a make-shift shelter in the rain, if that's how it ends up. Like I said, we're not begging for money, it's only what we find or what little we start with that we'll be using. If there's not a hurricane blowing in, there is no need for us to stay at a homeless shelter. That was never part of the idea either.

i saw a guide on living homeless in some blog somewhere. it was actually really good.. this guy lived homeless for like a few years and ended up staying just because he liked it more. he had access to showers/job/clean clothes/car/cell phone, ect.. just not a house. if you do it right then it's not that big of a deal from what i hear.

I agree with you here, most homeless people get themselves in the mess they are in, they aren't special they should stop blowing all their welfare money on booze, and work for their money like everyone else.
