Top 50 List of Flash 2+ yrs. old

I always notice that weekly winners usually get 1st and 2nd place in the top 50 and then a lot of people, including the artists themselves, mistake them to be the 1st or 2nd best of all time. It truly irritates me that the 'true' top Flashes, such as the Composer and Waterlollies (One of Adam Phillip's many masterpieces) don't get the recognition they deserve from visitors who don't know any better, assuming that the Top 50 is an accurate list of the true ranking of Flash when it's actually a very fickle list.

Aside from the true top Flashes like Animator vs. Animation II, it's also a little sad to see that the true lower 25 don't get any recognition at all since the weekly winners always push them down into obscurity.

Of course, the weekly winners usually are incredibly Flash movies, don't get me wrong (I especially enjoyed Mastermind 4 - Swain's one of my favorite artists), but isn't it a little unfair to the Flash that really deserve the top seats?

So, why not a list of top 50 Flash that already have matured scores, scores that have seen millions of views, hundreds of thousands of votes, and thousands of reviews? I think 2 years is a pretty reasonable assumption of when a Flash's score can be considered 'matured.'

The scores are based on people voting on them. It's automated. Nothing can change a Flash's ranking except getting a lower/higher score than another one.

I'm not saying change the scores, I'm saying make a second Top 50 that excludes Flash that are under 2 years old.

I think it's a good idea, actually. It does take time until a flash's score stabilizes.

Maybe a year and a half? There she is!! Step 3 is a little older than a year and I'm pretty sure that Waterlollies > There she is!! any day of the week.

I think 6 months is enough. Heck, most weekly flashes that jump on the top 50 fall out of it maximum one month

I support this idea. I always thought that the top 50 should show the REAL classics, rather than the weeks top 5. I do love the quality of the submissions up there, but it should be reserved for the real classics, and not changed on a whim.

I already purposed an idea exactly like yours a while back, it was ignored for the most part.

But I agree with you, I too think submissions in the Top 50 which have remained on this list for a certain amount of time, or achieved certain portal milestones should be retired and sent to a separate list/lists.

They've already received the exposure they deserve for the most part and will still have that exposure, just in a different section.

Most of the bottom submissions are comprised of the weekly winners being pushed off the Top 50 list.

Idiots 5 all the weekly top as its "BEST FLASH EVER" every week, it leaves loads of shit that should be weekly top going into top 50 as well. This started happening ages ago so there isnt much hope for any change really. the amount of retards voting is stupid.

i agree they shouldnt put flashes that where just added in the top 50 list until they are at least months old. or have a different slot for them like the top monthly top weekly or something like that dont just throw a flash in the top 50 with 2000 votes/

It's not the exposure, it's the actual concept of Top 50. If you think about it, the Top 50 is not an accurate list of the Top 50 Submissions of Newgrounds. It just happens to be a list of Flash submissions with inflated scores still fresh or on their way down dotted with the real Top 50.

Look, there's no other way to acknowledge that Waterlollies or the Composer is the best Flash on Newgrounds. The only way anyone could actually know this for a fact is by watching the movies themsleves or from knowledge that the Top 50 list is a flawed system.

The Top 50 tricks people into thinking that Flash like Mastermind 4 (which, imo, still deserves a position on the top 50, albeit a lower one) is the best Flash on Newgrounds. The Top 50 is not a list of the top 50 best Flash Submissions on Newgrounds; it would be more accurately labeled the 50 most popular Flash on Newgrounds as of this moment.

Hardly anyone votes on the older submissions and the newer ones are raped by votes-thus pushing the older ones further down the list...and after a while it appears the older's are getting worse

That's actually a good idea - maybe not two years (one would do), but we should definitely have a top-50 list of older flashes whose scores have had time to really stabilize.

I'm pretty sure that someone visiting Newgrounds is gonna think all of the submissions on the top 50 are amazing... so who really cares if "zomg waterlollies > mastermind4".

The top 50 scores even out given enough time, Adam P's stuff is never far from the top, so I guess the system works.

It'd say 1 and 1/2 years is abit extreame, but I'd agree something like a month would be more realisticly fair

I think we need about a month. Usually it takes about a week to even out, but by then next weeks top 5 have taken over. I think a month is reasonable.
