Do you prefer Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator? Or do you prefer something else?

I have Illustrator. It's not bad, but I don't know how to use it, and it's an old version. I like using Rhino, which uses vectors. It's a 3D modelling program for those who don't know.

I absolutely love Inkscape, Every icon and button in my NG Classic theme was made in Inkscape and anti-aliased in GIMP.

I generally traverse a vector of magnitude 4, though it varies depending on how I'm feeling that day.

My Vector is Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. I got it because it is far more useful than Adobe Fireworks when it comes to editing pictures.

Not to mention I saved $700.00 by buying it on eBay!

While we are still in the conversation, what's Inkscape and Magnitude 4, and how do they differ from Illustrator? And are any free?

Inkscape is a free, open source vector graphics manipulation tool originally designed for Ubuntu Linux.

I have it. Haven't gotten around to using it much- it's kind of confusing at first.

Inkscape is completely free and I think open source... not sure though.

The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false. O_o PARADOX!

It's got it's own way of doing things, but I've found the right plug-ins for me. I'm actually writing a plugin for it that might be useful, if you want an example of one of it's functions select my sig image in Internet Explorer and depending on your theme you'll see some text.

It is, and it's the closest thing I've seen that has a workflow similar to some professional sign-writing apps that I used in a past job (less sophisticated, of course). It uses SVG as the native format which is viewable in most browsers and tweakable if you're game enough to open the saved files in a text editor.

I didn't even know about the plug-ins until just now... I'll have to look into it.
I don't have internet explorer so I can't see it.
