Epiphany: Old People = Irl Regs.

Ever wonder why a lot of old people are grouchy old farts who whine about the good old days but still hang around life because they get things like discounts? It's because they're regs, IRL. They get special treatment and can do things that n00bs (kids) can't get away with. Mods (cops) don't always ban (arrest) them for every infraction, like that Jackass movie showed when that guy dressed up as an old man and started stealing stuff.

Eventually, they decide to leave RL for some other existance and are never heard from again. Sometimes they're missed, and people wonder where they've gone. But the world goes on.

So when you're old, go ahead and do things you couldn't do when you were young. The mods don't care.

If I live long enough to see my 70s, I plan on breaking the law every which way but loose. I'm going to shoplift every chance I get, flip off little children at the park, press my penis up against bus windows, whatever feels right at the moment. It's not a question of having earned the right to do it simply for not kicking the busket yet, it's more of a matter of testing the limits of how bad I can troll the noobs before the mods show up and ban me to jail. This part doesn't necessarily happen when you're old, so maybe it doesn't have to happen when you're a regular?
