All musicians are rather egotistical actually. I'd rather be something actually worth being egotistical about like building Gaint monster to destroy Japan or flipping off old ladies.

Mostly due to gaytar hero and the fact that it teaches you the basics of playing a guitar then most just give up playing because it's not like the game and you have to learn where to place all your fingers for the correct sound. I was playing guitar way before the game came out and people are like "I can do that better on gaytar hero", whoop de doo, I don't give a shit if you can play it on the game.

Aside from that, glad I picked up on how to play drums and keyboard as well, then I have more tards walk up to me if I play the drums saying they can do that on rock band, I don't give a shit there either. You can play it on the game, so what? I don't care.

I'm sorry you have to deal with these sorts of people. Personally, I've never encountered such people.

Most of the songs are guitar based so you have the most to learn or play to with it.

I'm basing this off the dipshits on youtube and people I have to see everyday I leave the house. I can understand them saying it and they can back it up but it's just getting pathetic these days. I remember back in the day when there was only Drummania and guitarmania, those were so damn fun. :)

i chose to play bass guitar because.. well, i got to know bass guitar better by bands like primus. and it kind of grew on me. i also know how to play drums and guitars and all that, but bass is my powersuit.

I really liked hard rock and metal and whenever i heard a solo it just made me wish i want to actually be doing it instead of air guitar, so i tried playing the fucking guitar and stopped after 5 months because computer took over my life.

It sounds and feels awesome to play.
The guitar is one of those instruments you can build most any type of song using. The only other instruments I can think of that you can do this with are the piano and violin.

Short answer: It just looks fucking badass.

Long answer: It's a very universal instrument actually, if you know how to play guitar you can pretty much play any instrument there is, any stringed one. It's pretty much the general string instrument if you wanna call it that. It's also really cool with effects and there's so much customization you can do to it. There's probably millions of different ways you can have your guitar unlike other instruments, you can sort of make it your own, you know what I mean? And chicks dig it. That's a fact, trust me, tested it, and it worked. ;)

People like guitars because they are cheap, not difficult to play and can be used in any genre to play anything you want..

I play guitar. Don't know why. I wanted to learn an instrument for my music GCSE. It was either guitar or drums. Drums wouldn't fit in my room, so I picked up a guitar. I stuck at it, practicing almost every day, I always made time for it and people say after the 2 years, it's really shown and I'm proud of myself.

I play guitar, bass, mandolin and ukulele.

For some reason the guitar type instrument is the only one I can remotely play.

Well they're very portable unlike say drums or a piano, don't need setting up, can carry a tune, they are relivevly cheap (depending on what you get, some good ones can be very expencive), they sound good and they get the player mountians of pussy.
