"Popular Artists" - P-Bots posts

I see that in P-Bots posts, there is a small section that contains flashes made by other popular artists. Why are these popular? Because they have a lot of people that have added them on favorite users list or something?

Well I'm considered a popular artist, but I don't know exactly why I'm considered one. I think it's because I've won an award before. Perhaps it considers anyone who has an award except for turd of the week will be considered a popular artist. Pretty sure that's it because I don't have a lot of people who have added me as a favorite author. Somewhere around 50 people or so.

I've found your name will only appear there if you've submitted a flash on the same week as the weekly winners. Any other time, you won't be there.

So it's got something to do with winning awards?

It can't have anything to do with awards, cus this guy doesn't have any, but he's on the popular artists lists for 6/10/09.

Anyone else know anything about it?

Why am I on their if I submitted RB the day before? Lol.

Anyway, I always thought that the PA section was simply based on who submitted something that day, but maybe it's based on if you have 1+ submissions or a certain score.

I think when P-Bot mentions "popular artists", he means everyone else who submitted something. Now, some of those artists may be in fact popular, but that list includes every other artist.

I could be wrong, but I believe that it's due to favorites. I was a "popular artist" before I had any awards, so I know it's not that. I used to know this.. I'm getting rusty, but I think that's it :X

I remember hearing that this was based on your amount of flashes. I have like 6 people who favorited me and am still "popular".

Wow, I axed a question no-one can answer?

I'd guess it had something to do with "times favorited" or something, as in how many times your flashes have been favorited. Only reasonable explanation, if it doesn't have anything to do with awards, amount of flashes, or times you've been added to favorite flash artist.

Well, I know that that's is not true, as I have never been considered "Popular" by P-bot, and I check every time I submit something :P
But I also know that it isn't by awards, as I spoke with one of my friends about he was considered Popular, and he hasn't any awards and a BA about 2.8 or something.

I think EVERYONE who has submitted a flash that day but didn't manage to reach the daily top 5 or the runner up places is listed there.

I don't think it has anything to do with popularity after all

I know this is not true for certain, there's at least 100 entries a day, not all those people get listed on the front ;) And if you took the time to read the thread (ie the post above yours) you can see proof that not everybody gets listed.

Maybe it has changed, but at least it used to the number of flashes submitted that decided if you are 'popular', and that number was three. However, I can't remember if you got listed on your third submission, or the submissions after it (fourth and up).

Made some research: This submission was the author's third, and it got listed. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that the moment you have three submission past judgment P-bot will give you "popular status".

A popular artist, as I thought it was, means that you have over 3 Flashes. I remember seeing my name there as soon as I made my 3rd flash.

I DID read the whole thread, I were just real tired yesterday, snd must've missed that...

What knugen found seems intereting, and I believe that could be it (as it's the third flash, you get a BA, so does this have anything to do with this? I don't think so, but it might yet be that after all)

I'm pretty sure it's not that, I have a flash with 85 favorites, and I am not a "popular artist".
