To those talking about modern medicine solving everything:

You have to remember, the Spanish Flu of 1918 and the Swine Flu have this in common: They are both strains of the flu that were completely new to medicine. Although we have better ways of healing people, and more efficient surgical techniques, this is an entirely new disease. In order to conquer a disease like this, we need to spend the time developing a vaccine for it.

Creating a vaccine takes knowledge of the disease though, something scientists aren't getting fast enough with the swine flu. Obviously, the swine flu has proven its potency to spread worldwide, and its quite possible that it still has room to evolve into a more potent, more fatal strain. That is one of the main things that is worrying so many people.

But there's no need to worry! Taking necessary precautions, and staying healthy and cleanly will greatly reduce your chances of catching the swine flu. If you do manage to get it, go to a hospital IMMEDIATELY. If you wait, you might end up being the next in the death toll.

ALso keep in mind do they have the resources to do it in 1918?

Millions of Africans die every year of a variety of deadly diseases, but God forbid a few Westerners might get the snuffles, we gotta pump all available resources into stopping this killing machine.

Seriously, there are people alot worse off than us, even if this apparent 'pandemic' does spread slightly.

They really just freely throw these terms around nowadays. The real pandemic is the still rising oil prices. This is a fucking scapegoat.

Its just like any other flu, you'll get sick, but you probably won't die.

Well, the psycology; aka not believing your actually sick seems to work. Make yourself believe your not sick and you won't be. That's a good stratedgy. Even if you did get swine flu, unless you already had another disease or something you'd live.

I've heard on the news that the province I'm in, Ontario, is the hardest one that's hit in Canada. So, no, I don't think it's bollocks. Although I've also heard it's not deadly serious if you get it and it's treated.
