PHILADELPHIA--Thomas Fulp, a Glendale, Pa. resident, may be the tallest Internet personality there is--hitting a massive build of 7 feet and 3 inches and about 215 lbs., he walks around Montgomery County like a statue. Fulp, 31, is best known as creator of Newgrounds.com, a popular community website of online animators and game designers. Newgrounds started in 1995, when Fulp was in his teens, experimenting with Flash, a program for animating and building games. Fulp has recently developed a spinal disorder which stunted his growth an additional fourteen inches under eight months.
"It's really your confidence in the mind, not the tall body," Fulp says. His brother, Wade, 33, a Bucks County dweller, describes him as tall and skinny, but what's not "tall and skinny" is the cranium of his that started the whole website.
Montgomery County Physician Brian Yawbus describes Fulp's disorder as "very rare" and is concerned that he may need to be confined to a wheelchair until his growth weakens. However, Fulp and his family are optimistic that he will do well and that he will recover.
