Userpage Icon not working

Alright guys. I'm trying to change my user image on my page. I'll successfully upload the picture (or so the server tells me), and hit save changes. I'll even get the pop-up saying that "All changes have been saved."

But, whenever I go to view my page, it shows that I have no picture whatsoever, not even my old one. Every time I try and upload the picture, I get the same results. It'll upload correctly and save, but it won't show up.

I've refreshed the page, cleared the cache, and nothing happened. I figured that it might have been a problem within Firefox, so I switched to Chrome, with similar results. The picture would upload and save, but not show up.

On a possibly related note, the icons and page pictures on the upload section of my user page are snapshots of the top left corner of the NG banner. I'm not the only one having problems with this.

Here's a picture of what I'm seeing. Any help would be appreciated.

it might be a size problem. try down or upsizing the picture to match the format said in the "rules"

Clear your cache or hit shift+click refresh to force the page to pull directly from the server and not your locally stored files.
If that doesn't work, make sure the format and dimensions are exactly what's called for.

You can see in the picture that the file size, as well as the pixels, match the rules. And besides, for the user page images, the pictures are automatically stretched to the right size.

Yeah, I'm getting that too. The only explanation I can think of is that it's some kind of glitch. I really don't know though.

Ctrl+5 and refreshing don't work, so I don't what else could.

I'd say contact liljim and see if he knows how to fix this.

Sometimes the userpage images don't always automatically update, just saw your page and it's the same old icon, it's ok though, it happens sometimes. I remember I did this a long time ago and my userpage image/icon etc. didn't update until the next day.

If you've done everything and it won't update then just wait a bit, it won't hurt every now and then to try and be patient with things. If it still doesn't update by the next day then contact Rob, Bob, or liljim since they all seem to be the one who do the main coding of the site, also it seems you're not the only one with the problems.

I was just making sure that someone else was having the problem and I wasn't missing something obvious before I bothered liljim.

But yeah, I sent a PM with a link to this thread, and I guess we'll have nothing to do other than wait for a response.

The problem is that the image isn't loaded as an image, it uses PHP to find the image, but the php file used appears to not eixst, so it's showing the Newgrounds 404 page which includes the header etc, that's why you see the top of the tank in that box.

I've been having it for a while, just ignore it :)

The edited Newgrounds picture has everyone, I think, at the first time you upload it its the original, and whenever you look back it's that tank, but it should be the same anyways, if it would actually show up.

On an other note, can you tell me, where did you get that background from?

Correction on my point; It's not a 404, it's a server error. The little image icon embeds "thumbnail.php" but there is a problem with "thumbnail.php" which returns "server error". This is the file it tries to embed - with your user information - and it can't process the request so it gives an error.

It's still not letting me change my image, though. I'll upload the image and hit Save, but it still shows that I have no profile picture. When I go back to the upload page, it doesn't show a profile picture at all, even though I just uploaded it.

And yes, I've cleared my cache, refreshed, and tried it on a different browser.

I think that this issue is now completely resolved - let me know if it's to the contrary.

Can I just say that ignoring issues like this isn't the prudent thing to do - if there's a glitch on the site, it's always unintentional. It surprises me how many people find it easy enough to post a comment about issues on the BBS, who then never follow it up with a message to one of us (even a link to a thread is sufficient). I keep saying this, but we can't be expected to follow every single bbs thread in an attempt to track down bugs - we just wouldn't get anything done in the day if that were the case.

I'm not talking about the OP here, who did exactly the right thing by making contact, but in general. It's not like we're gonna snap your heads off if you report something, even if it turns out to be a false alarm.

Backgrounds? Do you mean auras? Go into "My Account", then click on "General Information". There, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look for "Aura", which is right above "Blurb About You". Then just choose what aura you want.

I think that's what you mean by level backgrounds. Sorry if I misread your question, but I'm not really sure what exactly you're asking here.

NG Level Icon Maker, by smokinjoeevil Type: Game Rating: Ages 13+

Load up that game, and click the left and right arrows at the bottom. Once you have the aura that you want, press the "PrtScr" button on your keyboard. Then, open up an image editing program, such as MS Paint or Photoshop, and hit Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste the image.

Then it's as simple as cropping out what you want, which, in your case, is the aura.

Many people are intimidated by contacting someone they perceive as in an authoritative position to themselves. It's by no means a universal thing among everyone, but I'd argue it's defintely a part of human nature, stretching all the way back to when cavemen wouldn't want to look at/talk to the alpha male for fear of getting their head clubbed in for being presumptuous. #;-}>

And for the remaining people who don't have the above hangup, it's most likely just down to laziness.
