Unforutantely I failed my art exam as a whole (what!?) so I'm re-sitting it this year and thought I'd take pictures of what im drawing and give you guys regular updates just like last time. It really helps to pass the time, as ill be up for hours doing this. So here what ive got so far, make sure you comment and tell me what u think so far and how i could maybe do better.
We'll see if i can pass this time =]
For anyone wondering, im doing this ALL with a 2B pencil, and its a self portrait, drawing it by having a HD webcam showing my face on the screen and a small hand mirror to do those finer details like eyes =]
I'll try and update once an hour or more, unless i dont get much done.

The pic is too bright to see any lines...
I can just barely make out the outlines of the face, some I can't.
As for the actuall comments on the piece itself, the eye looks too light, but this could be part of the problem mentioned above. It might help to put in the lightest and darkest tones as reference. Otherwise you might end up with an entirely too light/dark piece.

I totally know what u mean but its not really as light as you think, im doing this is a dimly lit room and getting digital versions through a camera which is totally washing the colour and removing like all the detail, when i finish ill get much better lighting and higher quality images, i mean ive drawn every hair in my eyebrow but it looks like a grey blob in these pics =[ O well.
So heres update 2, note my nose isnt really that big, i just need some shading to fix it :P

Off course, we will only be able to give you any helpfull criticism if you fix your lighting... maybe put a little desklight on your desk, turn it on when you make your photo's. It will help us help you.

It seems unbalances, Left side is bigger than right side. nostril looks bit weird
Wow, light makes some freekin difference!
Nose is still porked up =[
1am, god I'm sooo tired... i shouldnt have drawn the eyes first, its freeky having my face looking back up at me!
It's hard to resist drawing the eyes first... It always happens to me too. Nice job so far =)
Ugh 2am time for bed i think.
last update for tonight, though im seriously considering restarting i really mucked up the left side of the face, smeared the shading with my hand by accident, tryed to fix it but made it worse. I'll decide tomorrow, i dunno if ill even have enough time to restart.
Night all!
Wow. That's amazing. I think i need to visit the art forums more often. I really like the way you drew the reflections in the eye, how it kind of splits of like there are two lights.

How do you even fail an art test?
I want to know more about this test.
Back to work, havent done very much since last update, decided not to restart havent got the time.
Also to poxpower, i failed because i didnt do any of the write up part. (also by failed i got a C which is a mega fail to me)
Its getting there, hair next, the worst part i think =[
time to break out the cereal i think!
Super impressive stuff so far, loving the progress.
Word to your mother
i know i didn't update yesterday, went to gym and when i got back my hands wouldn't stop shaking lol, so i did more today, has to be done by tomorrow morning along with another picture!
Looks nice, good attention to detail! But I think it would benefit from a bit more contrast, especially in the hair. Maybe add some more highlights and make some lines a bit darker (if at all possible, hard to judge due to picture quality)
I'm away out running for a while. will resume drawing in a few hours ;)
my shirt, is a complete bastard to draw !!!
looks pretty good, but the shading on the face just doesn't show the features of the face that well and the hair is pretty flat.

phew, got half my shirt done lol, now for the other half!
my next update will be the last, i'm gonna finish the shirt, fix face shading and make the hair look less flat.
So I'm all done with this one at last!
Thanks to everyone who commented, i tried to follow the help u guys gave me as you can probably tell.
Obviously for this last image I photoshopped it to improve the colour and stuff.
Hope you likey :D
