Wow, an art portal seems amazing. I don't think I would submit anything, but I would love to see the art other people make.

Well, if you take a look at his artwork, you can see he is quite the artist. He could be another Art moderator.

I think TheSilverGuitar was just a little surprised not to see him on the list. To be honest, I was a little bit, considering what he gets up to in the Art forum, and seeing as he's part of the mod team already. Still, I'm guessing this has all already been discussed in-depth amongst those involved, and I'm thinking many decisions have already been made. Upon first glance, I also thought that there might not be enough mods there... but we'll soon see, and it can be all be adjusted accordingly, yes?

It's just starting out. As it grows over time, more mods will be added to control the section. Just like the BBS.

Of course, that's exactly what I had in mind. We don't know whether large numbers of additional mods for the art portal are at all required yet. In my opinion, it's likely that there will need to be at least a few more, but like we've said, it's not actually here yet!

I believe the Art Portal has always been a higher priority than the Lit Portal, just given the main themes of Newgrounds and the fact that there is already a specialist community of artists here. I'm not saying that the writers don't have a sub-community here, but what they have isn't anywhere near as... defined as what the artists have going. I think there's a pretty undisputable link between Flash and art.

I'll be looking forward to the Lit Portal, as I'd definitely be contributing to that more than the Art Portal, but I'm interested in what's developing generally for now.

A: Art will appear instantly on your user page, but you will need to be scouted by an approved artist before your art appears in the Art Portal. These "approved artists" aren't necessarily moderators, merely fellow artists who are already members of the Art Portal themselves.

If they don't allow that, that would be insanity.
A lot of people could have been self-taught sure, but a tutorial excluding you from uploading your original work from that? (Unless it's a mirror image of the final product that most people include at the end of their tuts, then I would agree not allowing THAT carbon copy.)

Not sure. I would think you can submit it, though it's up to an Art moderator to decide that. So long as it isn't a exact copy from the tutorial, it should be acceptable.

Indeed. The way I see it, it's somewhat like an approval system. If you haven't been "scouted", then your artwork won't appear in the Art Portal. Instead, it will remain on your userpage.

In order to get your artwork to appear in the Portal, you need to be "scouted" by an approved artist. Once you're scouted, you then may scout other artists and approve them.

Oh, and if you happen to break the rules, you may be "unscouted", which means that your art will remain on your userpage.

Wait? You have to be approved by other artist to post in the art portal? Dosent that defeat the Newgrounds slogan mentioned in a previous post?

Also, "if you happen to break the rules...your art will remain on your userpage". If you break the rules and steal other people's work, thats a bloody ban! I dont like plagerists and work/credit stealing people (had a bad experience with those in school). Pardon me if Im being a backseat mod, but the last time I checked, people who steal work isnt supposed to go scott free. The artist has the right to be recognized by their work.
