This message pops up most often when I write extremely long posts.

Does someone know why this pops up? I don't understand the message.

It should be obvious. If it's an extremely long post, then more likely you'll exceed the 8,192 character limit, as stated in the post. Using HTML tags also takes up character space.

What I don't understand is why the message is coming up. From what I see in the pic, you still have 22 characters remaining. A glitch perhaps?

If it exceeds the post limit then chop off a paragraph or 2 and slap it in on the next post, I think this would be the only time a double post is accepted but if it's just you talking it seems pointless to do so.

Picture of message below:

Characters left: 22, I doubt that, as the above 2 have said, HTML tags take up characters as well, although that should be obvious.

It means you exceeded the limit and there is several others that pop up depending on what was in the post, pop up message may vary.

I don't understand the message.

It should be obvious.
Exceeded character limit or as ninjakoopa-33 said, " A possible glitch."

In some situations, it's better to put the stuff in one single post. This is best when you have people arguing against you and you want to pin the conversation down. I try to keep stuff concise, but if this hits me when I can no longer compress what I say, then I'm in trouble.

Also, mods also judge the 2nd post harshly so that it isn't a +1 post.

I know about the HTML tags, but removing them won't make a difference as compared to removing regular words/text.

Well I still have characters remaining (22).

Post content:

Some quoted stuff
HTML tags
What I said

I chopped off some stuff so that it will bypass this, but it really pisses me off when I find this message without knowing why it's there.

I don't understand the message.
It should be obvious.

Hmm... I guess I may have to take this to a NG admin...

What exactly is rich content markup? Does anyone know?

I appreciate the help guys. Thank you.

It's those tags you use to modify your text, like bold, italic, etc. They are included in the character limit.

When you include something like www.newgrounds.com, the markup for that is parsed after you have posted and converts it to:

<a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/">www.ne wgrounds.com</a>, more than doubling what you had originally typed.

Also, characters like " and & are converted to their html equivelants, like &quot; and &amp;. Again, this happens as your post is parsed, rather than as you type it.

Arhghghghghghghg. Posting DIFFERENT CONTENT in a 2nd post immediately after a post IS NOT A DOUBLE POST.

A double post is posting the same exact post twice.
